Question for Creighton Fans

If you took a poll in the McLeod Center during the Creighton game of who each fan would rather have as a head coach, you would be hard pressed to find anyone wearing purple who would say McDermott. I would guess the results might even be mixed among those wearing blue that day.

I don't hate Creighton and I respect most of their fans because at the end of the day it's a damn game. No one gives a rat's ass what I think and I am perfectly fine with that. I don't care who the Shocks beat so long as they are contending and doing so in an honest manner. I do not believe any team in our league are cheaters but then again I am a "big tent Catholic"', "Catholic Light, all the fun and none the guilt" Epicopalian so I could be accused of a catholic bias.

I hope we beat the hell outta everyone and every Valley team kick the crap out of everyone they play that isn't Wichita State.

True, I agree that WSU is mostly hated for the same reason Creighton is hated- both of us are just good right now. I was saying I was surprised to hear a fellow Jay just now realized most of the conference hates us. Creighton has been "hated" for 10 plus years cause we have been good for that long. Wichita has been hated for 2 years cause you have been good as of late. Hate might not be the right word, but envy probably is.

You're welcome, and hey Deanthony Bowden is one of my all-time favorite jays.

Mine too, hence the name. He was very underrated, probably the best defender we have ever had, at least for sure the best defending guard, and he brought alot of passion every game.

And to respond to uniftw--- I agree that Jake is a good coach, possibly just as good as McDermott. I don't disagree with you that making the NCAA two years was not a great accomplishment, and when you made the sweet 16 that was one of my favorite Valley memories of all time. However, I was trying to remind people how much Greg did for UNI. UNI was one of the worst teams in the Valley for years before McD began coaching for you. IMO taking a program that was that bad, and turning them into a program that made the tourney his last 3 years in a row, is even a greater accomplishment than what Jake has done. Only because the program was in such a better state when Jake took over. I realize most of the contributors were gone for Jakes first year, but the program was still in a much better place compared to when McD got there, and still had quite a few good players from McD's recruiting. I think we can agree that BOTH McD and jake were good coaches for UNI. I think a lot of UNI fans have forgotten what McD did for your program. And really we both make good points. I just think a lot of the hostility towards Creighton from UNI is because of Doug transferring here and because of his Dad being a former UNI coach who left the program. It has all the makings of a good rivalry, especially for you guys, as you have much more reasons to want to beat Creighton than probably any other team. UNI is one of my favorite Valley teams actually, you guys would be as good as Creighton is now if McD had went there like he originally intended.

McDermott did so much for this program. There is no doubt about that. He took us from the depths of Sam Weaver to 3 straight NCAA tournaments. He did have two guys both named the same that helped him, but he did so much for us and we are grateful. I really think most UNI fans appreciate what he did, but at this point none of them would trade our coach for anyone.

And his statement is wrong. We've done more in the NCAAs in the last 6 years than Creighton has in the last 38 years. So has UNI. So has Bradley.
