Official Bracketbuster MVC Lovefest Thread

Lots of mudslinging and piling on here lately, but I am looking forward to rooting on all MVC teams this Saturday. Hopefully our league can clean up and win 8 or 9 games to bury this event in style.

Especially interested in watching the following matchups along with a few predictions:

WSU vs Detroit- Shockers are too tough at home, WSU wins 77-65

Creighton @ St. Mary's- Suddenly this is a big game for the Jays. Certainly not a "must-win" for a bid, but CU can save themselves a lot of nailbiting the following week by taking care of biz in California. SMC looked slow and unathletic against BYU tonight to me, I'll go with the Jays in a thriller 74-72

Northern Iowa vs. Denver- Two of the hottest teams coming into the Bracketbuster. No reason to think the Panthers can't get er done at home to keep the mo rolling, 69-60 UNI

Illinois State @ Utah State- ISUr is a mystery right now and USU is one of the toughest road venues in the country. A win here would be huge for Jackie and co. to right the ship. I will be pulling for the Birds but I just don't see them winning in that environment- hope they prove me wrong. 71-66 USU

The MVC is hanging on by its fingernails to the #9 spot in conference RPI between the SEC and WCC. We've been steadily slipping throughout the conference grind and this is a nice (final) chance to give ourselves a boost. Looking forward to seeing several of us improve our postseason profiles and RPIs.

I know its getting to be the the time of the year where a lot of us are on pins and needles, but lets stop bickering for ONE weekend and be positive for everyone in this weekends Bracketbusters. After the games are over you may return to the B!tching.

Belmont still would've been the better win on the resume, but it looks like St Mary's would help Creighton's resume a little. Quality road wins don't come by often.

Detroit has probably turned out to be about equal to the XDSU's in profile, so bully for Wichita St.

Indiana St is the team that's lost everything in BB without even playing.

Don't laugh, but Denver/Northern Iowa could be an NIT elimination game.

Illinois St may win or lose but the real value is getting a return game against a future MWC team.

Kinda important Evansville, Drake, and Bradley hold serve over Wright St, Green Bay and UIC. I'd like to see our bottom half teams hold serve over mid-table Horizon teams.

And Missouri St/SIU absolutely have to win over MAC dregs.

I think this could be a big day. UE beating Wright St on the road might be asking too much, and a MSU/SIU split is reasonable, and Illinois St has a big task.....I'm setting the baseline at 7-3 as minimum tolerable results.

The UNI/Denver game may be played in the 40s. Denver plays slower than any other DI team and we all know UNI isn't exactly early 90s UNLV...

I don't see MSU getting a win on the road, but you never know the way they've improved.
I can see UE pulling off the upset at Wright St. if Colt goes off like he has in a few games this year.

I just hope the MVC doesn't do any worse than 7-3 in this god forsaken event. 8-2 would be nice, 9-1 or 10-0 would be a dream scenario.

Will be rooting for all MVC teams.

Asian, if an at large were still in the works for the ISU guys, I'd agree. At this point, it's all about getting mojo back for an STL run. At home against a team they should beat...need to win.

I'd agree with you re: 7-3...needs to be there at worst.

I would love too see an MVC sweep in this thing too. Hope the Bears can hold up their end. I know our opponent isn't very good (eastern michigan?) BUT I did hear they've been tough at home this year. Also don't know how physically big they are? If they have a big post we may struggle.

I'll switch to a "Go MVC!" mindset for the weekend.

But if we go 3-7 or 4-6 like the last two seasons, I'm back to seething hatred. Seething!
