Also not trying to establish Etchenique early and often this year has been a gross miscalculation I would say. I wonder if Creighton would be better served playing mostly zone from here on out as they are out-athleticized by typically everyone they face. Saint Mary's should not have gotten those point blank looks they got so much despite Delladova being a great pg.

Terrible guard play for the past month is the main culprit to this team tanking. For the first 35 or so minutes of todays game the only guard to score was Gibbs with a whopping 5 points.

Chatman: 0, Manigat: 0, Johnson: 0, Dingman: 0 and Yates: 0

I had a feeling we would lose this game, but the way we lost was...revealing. Turns out it hasn't just been the familiarity of Valley opponents that know us too well and get up for their game against us. To be brutally honest, we have looked like an NIT team for every single game since starting with the game in Wichita. We do miss Josh cause now we are very weak at the 2 or 3 positions.
How does a team that was possibly the best offensive team in the country turn into an average offensive team? Here's how. This team was not good because of individual players, the reason this team was so good early in the year was cause we played so well as a team (moving without the ball to find open spots and passing it around in split seconds to create open shots). This team does not pass it around and play good TEAM offense anymore. We catch and look around and take a few dribbles to nowhere and then someone has to get open just to avoid a 5 second call. We will never be good without playing team offense, we don't have the type of personel to do anything one on one except in the post. Yes this is the slowest Creighton team we have ever had, one of the slowest Valley teams I have ever seen. It's not enjoyable to watch us. Some of it might be coaching, but some of it is the recruiting this staff has done in their first couple years. We desperately need one slasher that can drive to the basket. Nevin and Andre, our future backcourt, have not developed into very good players yet. But we are what we are, why aren't we moving without the ball and seeing the court and passing like we did early in the year, playing offense as a team? Now we HAVE to win against Bradley and also WSU to get into the tourney, and this team has the ability to lose both of them. Otherwise we are going to have to pull off some more St. Louis magic again.

Another uninspired performance tonight from the Bluejays... the team just looks lost offensively - too much standing around, bad shot selection and slow development of any plays is just killing the offense, which was obviously is the key element of this team. Now the Jays appear to breaking down on the defensive end, especially tonight, which is going to spell some major problems for these last two match-ups at Bradley and vs. Wichita State.

If the Jays happen to show up against Wichita State next Saturday and play like they did tonight - they will once again find themselves on the losing side and most likely for the second straight year, would get crushed by the Shocks on their home floor. I have faith that this team still puts it back together - but my optimism is starting to fade as this team hasn't shown much of what made it so good during its 17-1 start.

So far it's looking like the Shockers are the only team "off the bubble," as they seem to be playing themselves into the big dance. If they can get by Evansville and CU to end the season, the Shocks are in the NCAA's, no matter what happens in STL (which is probably comforting to Shocker fans considering their recent run of luck at Arch Madness). CU is looking at having to win their last two games almost certainly, and at least would have to win 1 or 2 in STL to be off the bubble, but even that is debatable right now considering CU's 5-6 record over the last 11, including the bad loss at Drake and lack of solid wins outside of Wisconsin and Cal.

I think most of the struggles of CU has to fall on Coach Mcdermott. With a talented big man like GE, a great passer in Gibbs, and a pure scorer like Doug it blows my mind how this team has gone 5-6. They are slow, but IMO that should only affect the defensive side. Its troublesome to see them struggle on offense. I honestly think if the selection show was today they do not make it based on limping in at 5-6. I think the selection commitee would much rather put in a team playing good ball like Maryland or Nova.

I would say Wichita is in the Dance, even if they lose one of their last 2, and lose in the first round in St. Louis. It would be close but I think they'd still get in. They would basically have to lose their last 3 games to not make the tourney. And with the injury to Cox for Evansville, I don't see that happening.

I agree with you on Creighton. I am almost positive they look at your last ten games or so and put a little more weight on those games. Creighton basically can only lose one more game, and that is including the MVC tourney. I think if say, we go 1-1 in our last two, and then even if we then win 2 in St. Louis, and lose in the Championship game, we would likely be left out. That would put us at 5-5 for our last 10. A perfect scenario to be one of the last 2 or 3 teams to not make it. This is the most disappointed I've been as a Creighton fan, but if we finish strong and start playing like a team we can still get to the tourney and possibly make the sweet 16. Like most Creighton fans, I haven't given up on this group, but my optimism is fading. We have looked bad for a long, long time now. What happened to the Creighton team that crushed Akron and St. Joseph's, which in my opinion are 2 of the best teams we have played all year. St. Mary's is no better than those two teams thats for sure.

Jacobson gets T'd up after Sonnen is leveled on a 3. Refs have been reluctant to call much of anything down the stretch. Say Jake was out of his box, Denver's coach and assistants have nearly stolen the ball from UNI in-bounds on several plays they were so close  Denver just not missing anything though. Some is bad D from UNI, some is just some ridiculous cahones by the Pioneers. Physical game

Panther's lose 63-55. Sonnen hammered one more time for good measure. Most of this game was officiated well but as UNI inched closer and closer to the lead we saw Denver get away with some interesting calls. You just get the feeling sometimes with these out-of-conference officials

Panthers didn't do themselves any favors though against a very good team. Look out for Denver in the NCAA's if they win their auto-bid or manage to get an auto-bid (longshot)

I saw that JFC! Sonnen was dang near murdered on that 3 attempt, how was that NOT a foul! That was worse than the foul called on Odum in UNI's loss at INS

Drake wins. MVC now 7-2 today

Let's go redbirds, need an 8th win for MVC today
