The Missouri Valley Conference is an excellent basketball conference and I hope both WSU and CU stay. :buddies:

Or is St. Mary's just a really good team that very rarely loses at home?

I'm pro-mocking-Creighton, but St. Mary's is a solid team, and there's nothing to be ashamed of in losing to them. I think their only home loss all season has been to Gonzaga. I don't think anyone is going to confuse Creighton with Gonzaga this year, anyway.

Better than last few years.

A bit of both. I think Creighton was a little over-hyped, at least by many of the Jays fans, but also this team was truthfully one of the top 20 teams in the country IMO for the first half of the year. Losing Josh Jones made us worse for sure, and also, we should not be this bad even without Josh. This team should still be a top 30 team i would think, but clearly right now we are not. Bad coaching, losing one of our key players, and guys just not playing the way they should have all contributed. I don't think we were over-hyped by much, but yes probably a little bit. I truely believe if we had Josh we would be ranked in the top 25 still. We are better than our record, we have lost a lot of close games, but with Josh our guards wouldn't be so tired, and he was the one guy that could create his own shot and make it too.

Good question. I honestly think CU was a legitimate top 10/15 team for the 1st half of the season. But something has gone very wrong......

Despite all the griping about the Bracket Busters and the fact that it is a little small time for the MVC now, it has brought some good games to our conference. I will miss the weekend of pure conference unity after the grind of the conference season.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.

My opinion about CU is they focused more on the defensive end early in the year and it has caught up with them..very tough to play hard on both ends and make jump shots all season when you aren't used to it. Concerning the game St Mary's is very good especially at home.

I will also miss a day of complete conference unity. It was so much fun watching as many Valley teams as possible and rooting them on. The ESPN boards were awesome seeing the different team fans sincerely pulling for one another. I bleed purple throughout the season but I bleed MVC during the out of conference games. I cant wait for Arch Madness and I will actually be there this year.

This is my first MVCFANS post and I'm happy I didn't need to waste it on some emotional rant after a tough game!

I almost never complain about the refs and have actually defended them during many controversial calls this year (e.g. 3 pt foul against Koch @ end of ISUblue game).

This being said, the Panthers were royally screwed last night. Here is a condensed sequence of events to end the game.

1) Sonnen gets leveled on a 3 pt shot. No call is made (DU up 3).
2) Coach Jake takes two steps outside the coaching box to complain. The ref T's him up.
3) Denver player hits both free throws (UD up 5).
4) Denver player is fouled on the next possession.
5) Denver player hits one free throw (UD up 6).
6) Game over.

This is the first and hopefully only time I will ever make this statement, but the refs literally cost UNI the game.

3 very impressive road wins yesterday for the MVC from Bradley, Evansville, and Missouri State. When the middle and bottom of the conference can go on the road and win games like that, it tells you the strength of the conference.

Only other game that was disappointing was UNI losing at home, but from what I've read, the refs made sure they were not going to win.
