We've seen ranked teams miss the tournament before, and someday we will again.

Let's look a Creighton and Wichita State and see what happens if they lose in their matchup.

If Wichita State loses, then they have to get to at least the second game of the MVC tournament. Otherwise you are have two three-game loss streaks to MVC teams, and a sub-35 RPI with a weak SoS. While the RPI isn't a killer, they would have (and do have) way too many marks on the "bad losses" column.

If Creighton loses, they are 10-6 in MVC play, 23-8 overall. I think they'll have to make at least the MVC Finals to get an at-large bid, and they might need to win the tournament. Sub-25 win valley teams just do not get at-large bids.

Anyway, I think neither team would feel comfortable getting an at-large bid with a loss Saturday.

There's also a UNLV team in there somewhere, too lazy to look it up.

I seem to recall a New Mexico team once upon a time too.

I believe that was back in the 90's, but I don't know the exact year.

I think there's about 10 teams right now with the resume of a 2 seed.

I think most people are a seed line or so too pessimistic about the Valley. Lunardi's S-curve has them on the 10 line. I was thinking the 8-9 game going into this.

Lunardi's current bracket has WSU and Creighton in KC. WSU vs Missouri with the winner playing KU, CU vs St. Louis with the winner playing KSU. That would be a wild site and considering I'm 45 minutes from KC that would be awesome. Of course, ignoring the downfalls of the 8/9 game.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.
