Yes it will but I think it will be quite a big step down competitively from the Valley.

I would agree. If Creighton leaves, baseball is probably the one sport where the Valley is obviously better.

The Big East will do wonders for basketball, is a huge upgrade for our successful soccer program and should provide benefits in many of the women's sport as well, but baseball may suffer.

Who knows, maybe we'll end up replacing baseball with lacrosse some day?

This stuff is hilarious, it's really going to be interesting to see how this all shakes out. If this were true, I'd hope Elgin would make a push to admit Dayton, if they'd migrate from the A-10. I would imagine they'd just stay in the A-10 though.

If the A-10 keeps Dayton and loses St Louis, that's a western footprint that still allows them to later expand into Indiana, Ohio, or Michigan, and then Illinois and then in the heart of MVC territory.

If the A-10 loses Dayton and keeps St Louis, we can pry St Louis with just a little effort, and the A-10 is all eastern and locked out a bit. Any new midwest team would have to be willing to be on a bit of an island.

I agree. I think the C7 is potentially making a big mistake by not immediately going to 12/14 teams. They could effectively cripple the MVC and A-10 if they dealt them a quick death blow. By going to just 10, one or the other of the MVC/A-10 can raid the other and cherry pick some top members. The resulting league would be a solid basketball league and a pain in the butt for the C7 from a television negotiating standpoint for the next 20 years.

If Dayton/SLU are the odd-men out then the MVC needs to put together whatever package it takes to entice them.
