Yea i don't pay much attention other than in the Valley. I'm guessing K-State will be a great team in years to come. He had his teams at SIU play to their potential all the time.

Of course I'd like to play, after winning something like 4 of the last 6 over Creighton, WHY NOT?

The legendary Kim Mulkey from Baylor University speaks for how I feel on this one:

"And my feeling is this: If a man wants to divorce me and says our relationship has no value to him, and then asks me if he can sleep with me, the answer is: No!"

CU has the right to leave and as long as they comply legally to their contractual obligations then I have no beef. Good for them. But I don't think we should bend over to acommodate them. We shouldn't be pining to get games with them. That gives them all the power in the relationship.

Why not? If it can build up a school's resume then it makes sense. The problem is, Creighton is playing by that same mindset. The real question is what does Creighton have to gain by playing any MVC school once they are out of the conference, unless they are at the top of the MVC.

I personally think this would be a terrible move for the Jays, yes there will be extra money but at what cost. Will the Jays be an annual contender in this new league, sorry but no, and after Junior leaves the cupboard is rather bare, and G Mac has already proven that he has struggles in a BCS confernce, honestly if he has a say I would beat he is against the idea. The other thing you have to look at is the geographical foot print, would Creighton take 4,000 fans to NYC for a conference tourney the way they travel to STL, no. I really hope that the leaders at CU can see beyond the money to make a proper choice.

As for the question I would say yes as long as McDermott is the coach.

Bingo. They won't bring 100 fans to MSG or the Barclay Center for the Big Least/C7 Conference tournament. And the locals will treat those that do come like country bumpkins. They are going to be roundly mocked in the new conference for being Midwestern too. It's just the clunkiest of fits. And fits are an important part of conference realignment.

Enjoy yourselves in the new conference bluejays. You will be begging to come back in 5 years. Creighton will go back to being a solid but unspectacular program after Doug leaves and his dad will show he is not a great coach. I mean this is the first outright valley title in a decade for CU. Its not like they are dominating the conference they are leaving. They really will become the Depaul of this new big east. Not to mention like everyone said have fun having to travel to the northeast every year for games and dealing with those stuck up pricks from up there.

well, this isn't even a done deal and already the jays are going to fail miserably? ok, if they get an invite, time will tell.

if you were a fan of cu would you honestly feel like this would be a bad move? to go to a conference that is likely to get 4 or more bids every year and just by being in it opening up a whole new level of recruiting and non-conference scheduling improvement?

it is not disparaging to the Valley, it is just a clear upgrade in basketball conferences. if the AD and Pres of your school turned that down if presented the chance, it would be time to get a new AD and Pres.

First of all, how can you possibly know how many fans Creighton will bring to NYC?

Secondly, Creighton didn't always bring 4K to St Louis either. It didn't keep us from winning.

Finally, this comment is just silly:

How does UNI fan know what is best for CU? How does UNI fan know that CU moving to the Big East isn't the "proper choice"? Personally, I think moving to an all basketball league (no football at all) secures Creighton's future. Football will eventually rip this conference apart and we can't sit around and wait for it to happen.

:+1: Those guys don't really believe what they are saying. Of course it would be the right move to go to the Big East. Sucks for Baseball, but Basketball is where Creighton makes a living. We would have the potential to consistently be a sweet 16 threat. Something that you can't have with consistency in any "mid-major" league. You can get lucky, or have the occasional great team that gets to the sweet 16, but never on a consistent basis. Although Gonzaga has gotten to that point somehow.
