This thread has gotten pretty comical. St. Louis seems like the obvious best choice to me, other than that maybe KC, but KC already has the Big 12 tournament and is a little bit less centered if Creighton were to leave. The only reason I can think of for putting it in KC is to please Wichita fans. I don't like the idea of moving it around every year to different cities either. At the moment there might be a little bit higher draw in KC, but If either SIU, Bradley, or Illinois State are having a good year, they will bring a good amount of fans to St. Louis, and probably not to KC.
CaseyGarrison has gone crazy BTW. I don't see what is so bad about St. Louis. And for the Omaha comment, that makes zero sense to me unless they end up adding BOTH the Dakota schools. Let's just have it in the UNI Dome.

I don't think CU fans opinions really count any more.

Might be because STL is a sh*t-hole. The tourney is not even first priority for TV or the town.

I realize CU doesn't have a say anymore if they leave.

Would the tourney be of any more priority if it were in KC? I dont think so. Thats more of Big 12 territory. And parts of St. Louis might be a sh*t-hole, but there is a lot of good areas with a lot to do right around where all the teams stay. I don't think KC has anything that St. Louis doesn't have, and is just as much of a s***-hole as St. Louis is.

i have been to st. louis 7 of the last 11 years and i personally think it is a great neutral site for the valley tourney and is considered one of the best conference tourneys in the country as it stands now. i have always had a blast there, but the jays won the tourney 5 of the 7 times i have gone so that may have influenced my opinion and may be influencing your view of the town in the opposite way perhaps?

if the shox ever win on sunday there i'm fairly sure you will feel differently.

I guess it remains to be seen. STL is Blues territory. A-10 Territory. B10 Territory.

I'm partial to short drives and BBQ - STL doesn't offer that.

Well of course you and all Wichita fans would enjoy it more if it were in KC, just as Creighton would. But for the Valley as a whole KC isn't any closer to the avg. fan than St. Louis is, and with Creighton gone St. Louis would be much closer to most teams, the only two that would benefit from the shorter travel would be Drake and WSU. Missouri State would be very insignificantly closer to KC I believe? I think having it in St. Louis every year also gets the locals more involved cause they all know about the tournament now because of it being there year after year for so long. It might take a few years before the locals in KC start to support it very well. Also, IMO St. Louis has very good ribs also. And it has the Metrolink so you can get around the city without a vehicle for those who fly to the tournament. And I think with the Big 12 tournament being in KC, locals are going to choose to attend that instead of the MVC tournament, where as in St. Louis, the MVC tourney is the only quality college basketball they get to attend all year, or at least tournament-wise.

STL isn't a BBQ destination like KC, but you can definitely get your fix. Bogart's in Soulard and Pappy's in Midtown are easy access from Scottrade. PM BBQ is a few miles west on 40 in Chesterfield.

All of us in the STL area feel the same about the rest of the state. We are very glad we are unlike the rest of the state.

The Meth capital of the world is right there in Southwest Missouri/Northwest Arkansas. I'm not judging the citizens of Springfield, but if you want to play this game, then we can play it. I'm guessing you were kidding though Casey.

The counties in Missouri with the most meth busts are all within 50-75 miles of St. Louis, particularly Franklin County. They are not in Southwest Missouri. In the words of Jim Calhoun "Get some facts."

The reputation is there but it is not necessarily warranted.
