I guess I can kind of understand the pre-emption within the state of Indiana - at least Indiana was the team playing in the Big 10 game (and they were playing for a conference title).

What I don't get at all is the pre-emption in the Peoria/Bloomington area. Illinois wasn't playing in the Big 10 game.... WTH?

I thought this was kind of funny:
Todd Hefferman ‏@Todd_Hefferman

AP story: MVC's Doug Elgin said he'd rather have the Food Network televise the #ArchMadness title game if CBS can't air the entire thing.

If you really want to get their attention, write a good old-fashioned physical letter. Why?

1) They actually have to do something with it.
2) They have to pay somebody to do something with it.
3) They hate it.
4) Support the postal service.

Elgin might watch out for what he wishes for....

I think this all starts at the top. I mean when you have a broke back leader, that allows his product to be walked on and extorted what do you expect. The league needs a new figure head cause this is not working.

Is Barry Hinson writing Elgin's material now?

I know several posters here feel that way, but who are we going to get and what would he/she do differently?

We could get Dan Beebe who did good things in the OVC, Mountain West, and Big XII until Texas got tired of him. He is connected in the realignment game and a pretty sharp guy. Just one name if we were to make a change.

the first time i actually saw elgin give an interview was at the beginning of this tourney at the desk inside scottrade broadcast on FSMW. i have to say in all honesty he came across as an individual that would not be very hard to walk all over. he certainly seems like a decent and nice enough guy, but came across as a little jittery and unsure of himself.

the valley has been good to cu so i can't complain, but looking big picture over the last 10-12 years with 2 horrendous SWMOST snubs and now this national slap in the face from cbs and bracket buster being degraded badly over the last 5 years (in my opinion), it may be time for a change. also, the tv contract is basically worthless in the chicago market with hardly any exposure whatsoever and almost always getting prime time bumped to tape delay for bulls or blackhawks. it is a decent basketball product that is virtually invisible to the greater chicago market and probably has hurt potential recruiting more than most realize as a result.
