so does this make it more or less likely Dougie turns pro? I mean playing in a 10 team league where 6 or 7 teams will get NCAA bids (according to sCUm fans) - the competition will be fierce. It will be like CU playing WSU in every game.

I am going to miss the MVC, but this was just too big of an opportunity to pass up for the Jays. I will forever be a fan of the Valley, and hope that a suitable replacement can be found.

Also hoping that CU will be able to schedule some games against Valley teams to continue the series down the line (especially Drake, UNI, Wichita State, and Missouri State as those are the closest "rivalry" schools to CU).

This is an exciting but also sad time as a Jay fan like me, the Valley has been great and I will definitely miss Arch Madness and the rivalry with WSU.

I think Doug almost certainly stays for his senior season in my opinion. This could be a big opportunity to lift his game/draft stock, with the more intense competition game to game in conference. But without go to guys like Gibbs and GE, CU next season could have more matchup problems against the bigger teams, which could hurt Doug's game... Even though he didn't seem to be bothered by WSU's high level of play in the regular season finale (the MVC title game he really struggled due to bad shooting and silly fouls).

I think it will also depend on how well we do in the NCAAs. Sweet 16 or better, he is as good as gone as the exposure will get him well into the first round. If not, I think he stays. We'll see...

I don't think conference affiliation has anything to do with whether Doug is back next year. If he is projected as a top 20 draft pick, he'll certainly be gone. If he is a borderline first round / second round draft pick and could potentially go in the second round where there is no guaranteed money, I think he'll be back. Time will tell...

I think Doug is gone - gone - gone!

BEast officiating and east coast styles of play are different than the Valley. If Doug stays, he's going to have a huge target on his back and the officials are likely to let opposing teams hammer on him pretty steadily.

Is he going to raise his stock by going against athletic and physical PF's almost every night in a league officiated pretty loosely? Is he going to improve his stock by playing with Artino instead of Echenique? Without Gibbs, who gets the ball to him for all his looks and possessions?

There would seem to be too much of a risk of moving down in draft status instead of up. If he stays, it's to cover his Dad's butt for one year in the new league. Take Echenique, Gibbs, and McDermott off CU's team and moving into the C7/BEast doesn't look like a formula for a winning season.

OK, so how long until Elgin and the MVC presidents extend an invite (or invites) to a new school (or schools)?? I sure hope they don't sit around on this.
