If they can beat all of us creampuffs then schedule us in the OOC. I'm sure any number of Valley teams would welcome any kind of equitable scheduling arrangement.

There was on comment stating "is this a tournament for fans or coaches?" Very true. Fans want to see teams from outlier / midmajor conferences play the BCS schools. The tournament would be pretty boring without that. And oftentimes those schools prove they can compete.

I don't know. He may have a point there. I mean, as a member of the BigEast now, I think we need to take a hard look at how these bids are handed out. :D :?

Obviously kidding. Florida Gulf Coast, WSU, Hickory Huskers, and all the others is what makes this tournament great. From the time we are playing high school in sub-districts, everyone gets a chance and that is the way it should always be. That is what makes CFB so stupid.

The funny part is he was the one talking about how the MVC "Broke the RPI code". Well there was not much to it. Play good teams, play them on the road, and if you lose once or twice, its not going to hurt you, and it will better prepare you for this tournament.

If the majors want more teams in the tourney then stop creating huge mega-conferences.

The only valid point that he could make, but doesn't, is that the automatic qualifier provides a tremendous incentive for all colleges to become division 1 - even those that really don't belong. And there a bunch of those out there. However, the fix for that is to create a firm set of criteria for D1 participation, not ruin the tournament.

I really hate the direction that college sports are headed. Anyone who understands college basketball knows that chemestry and expereience can many times win out against talent. If this thing moves to 80 teams, I guarnatee you we will see the mid majors playing in to get to the round of 64.

"And so when anybody ever wants to tell you that it’s the best 68 teams in the tournament, it’s not." - Gary Williams from the article.

I've never heard anybody say that. Maybe I have, I just dismiss it. The automatic qualifier from all the conferences is one of the charms of the tournament.

“Making great is better than joining great” - Oties Epps

Does it make you great (Major) because you have a Big East logo on your jersey? I don’t think so. Just ask Pitt. Did the logo help them against WSU? Nope. WSU bloodied their nose and embarrassed them on national TV. Did the logo help Georgetown? Hell no. Just watch the highlights. FGCU stuck it in their face, literally!

You can keep your little logos, money, and butt kissing “experts”. These things will not help when the ball is tipped and WSU is proving that. In my eyes WSU has not upset anyone. I expected them to win and I expect them to keep winning because that’s what great teams do. Go Shox! Oh, and go Creighton. Show us the money because it seems like that’s what you are all about these days. Sorry about the last sentence because I have always respected and rooted for CU. It just seems like you are trading substance for money. Hope it’s worth it in the long run….
