Does it make you great (Major) because you have a Big East logo on your jersey? I don’t think so. Just ask Pitt. Did the logo help them against WSU? Nope. WSU bloodied their nose and embarrassed them on national TV. Did the logo help Georgetown? Hell no. Just watch the highlights. FGCU stuck it in their face, literally!

You can keep your little logos, money, and butt kissing “experts”. These things will not help when the ball is tipped and WSU is proving that. In my eyes WSU has not upset anyone. I expected them to win and I expect them to keep winning because that’s what great teams do. Go Shox! Oh, and go Creighton. Show us the money because it seems like that’s what you are all about these days. Sorry about the last sentence because I have always respected and rooted for CU. It just seems like you are trading substance for money. Hope it’s worth it in the long run….

Didn't you used to be in the Horizon?

No. It was called the MCC when UE played there. I see where you are going with this but Evansville did not choose to leave the MCC, they were forced to leave when Dayton along with the A-10 blew up the conference. If I remember correctly, Creighton was about to jump to the MCC until the Dayton stuff happened.

Can't stand people like this. If he had his way we would be watching 40-38 snoozers between big east, SEC, and BIG10 teams. Wonder what he thought of the beat down WSU gave supposed Big Least power house Pitt. Or the infamous performance of Georgetown against FGCU. Or how about Missouri against Colorado State. Oh and let's not forget poor old Kentucky who didn't get in the tourney, who proved they should have gotten in it by their great play in the NIt, oh wait....

Keep bringing it MVC. 9-1 in the postseason this year, hopefully 10-1 after tonight.
Go Aces!

Why is a reporter even asking a washed-up coach who nearly destroyed his program what he thinks about the state of college basketball?

Ask him about retiree golf communities, but not college basketball.

The thing Gary Williams doesn't understand is that the only way to find out if a team like Southern or Florida GC is worthy is to give them a shot against the teams who are loathe to play them in the regular season. That's what the tournament and auto-bids are for. It's not meant to be an exclusive club, as much as the Whiner would would it to be. Eliminate the auto-bid and college basketball becomes the BCS.

I was talking to a buddy of mine about an NCAA pool that we may or may not run together during the NIT selection show. Was hoping to see UE get in but alas they did not. I suggested since Cal is all about the non traditional scheduling maybe it would do some of the "big boys" some good to go into a smaller, yet loud arena where it would be the "super bowl" for the small school to be so lucky to get to host such an institution. These teams that never leave their home gyms except in exempt tournaments seem to struggle away from home against this elite competition that Mr. Williams believes in his vaunted ACC.

Florida Gulf Coast is an amazing story as a 15 seed, getting to the sweet sixteen. Everyone wants to rip Gonzaga but their run from 99 and ability to keep it going is an incredible story that would never have happened under the Williams Plan. The joy of seeing teams celebrate during championship week and seeing the emotions, the same emotions no matter what the name on the jersey is, when the season ends are always the same. No matter if you're expected to get to the Final Four or play in an early game on Tuesday in Dayton, getting to the dance is a huge goal, it shows when every school CBS features has their name announced that they are in. To deny that to school that are doing more with a whole hell of a lot less than Williams ever did at Maryland would be a shame. I know I wouldn't be getting the same emotions if #15 sub .500 BCS school rolled their way to the Sweet Sixteen. That's the beauty of a 340+ team D-I, you can earn your bid based on Nov-Feb, or you can get hot and get in in early March and see what happens and test yourself against the best teams in the country.

Nobody who didn't get in has anyone to blame but themselves Mr. Williams. Win more games, problem solved. These little guys who you feel are undeserving win a ton of games every year, know how to play and I guarantee you all across the land everyone will be amazed at the show FL Gulf Coast has put on, using all sorts of superlatives while you and a couple other coaches from big boy leagues will be bemoaning the fact you couldn't get selected and fall in round 1 or 2, whatever the NCAA insists on calling it.
