Better season - Creighton or Wichita State?

Creighton had the better season (thus far anyway). They won both conference titles outright, and won an NCAA tournament game. That's very impressive, and very hard to do.

But making the Sweet 16 is more memorable and is worth much, much more to the school and outsider's perceptions of the program, so I think everyone would rather have WSU's season (as would I), despite it not necessarily being technically "better" than CU's season.

It has yet to be determined...one is still playing, the other is not. Congrats to Creighton's regular and conference tournament championships...well earned and deserved. As far as overall, we will have to wait and see. Either way, a great season for both.

Does anyone hang sweet sixteen banners in their arena? (all jokes about CU not needing one aside). Everyone hangs conference championship banners and tournament championship banners. They hang final four banners and of course championship banners. But sweet sixteen banners? Just asking.

Can you name the mid-major sweet sixteen teams from even two years ago who didn't make at least the regional finals? I would give my pinkie toe for an NCAA run, and if the choice was the conference titles or a final four - or even elite 8, I might take those NCAA runs. But between a sweet sixteen and walking away from the MVC having swept the conference and tourney titles, I greatly prefer having taken those trophies with us out the door.

With regards to the tournament it is simply divided into 3 parts--Sweet 16, Final 4, and Championship--and a corresponding banner for each. We've gotten the first one and it would be fantastic to get the second. I'll stop there--afterall, this WAS a reloading year!!!

No jokes needed. Yes, teams hang Sweet 16 banners. WSU will hang one if they lose this next time, right next to the other Sweet 16 ... and two Elite 8s ... and Final Four. Obviously Creighton doesn't have one to hang, so it makes sense you wouldn't know >=) If you search "Sweet 16 basketball banners" in Google you'll see plenty ... make sure you add that basketball part, though.

Can anyone in the country that doesn't cheer for a MVC team even name who won the MVC last year, let alone two years ago? Who won the MVC only matters to people who care about the MVC. Who makes the Sweet 16 is nationally relevant.

Attempting to downplay the importance of the NCAA tournament reeks of jealousy from a fan of a program which always fails in the NCAA tournament.

I'd love for WSU to have more MVC titles, especially in the conference tournament. However, I wouldn't trade our two Sweet 16 runs in the last seven years for seven conference tournament championships. The difference in magnitude of importance is massive.

It's hilarious seeing so many Creighton fans trying to argue conference championships are the measure of a program now. So many broken hearts lying to themselves.

I know WSU has their sweet 16 banner hanging in Koch. I guess i always figured schools that don't make it there that often usually hang them, schools like kansas, duke etc don't hang them.

You showcase what you get. Obviously schools like Kansas and Duke are expected to always be in the Sweet 16, so they hang Final Four and national championship banners.

We're not at that level. We hang Sweet 16's, conference championships, NIT Championships, Elite 8's, and one Final Four.

Wichita, it's ALWAYS about playing in the NCAA's and the rest is just a qualifying event for it. Jays had a great year but Wichita surpasses with S16.

CU will have other chances for a sweet sixteen run, and I think much sooner than most doom and gloomers predict. On the other hand, we will never again have a chance to win the MVC conference or storm St. Louis.

I would take getting to the sweet 16...better national exposure. Quick without looking it up who won the A10 conference tourament? Who won the CAA conference tournament? MT West? Everyone knows who is in the Sweet 16.

Not going to argue the topic of this thread because it's stupid. Both had/having great seasons. Jays had an amazing season and are moving up. WSU is having a great year also.

But back to your question, quick, who where the final 16 last year???? If you make the final four than we can talk.
