Better season - Creighton or Wichita State?

Quick without looking it up who won the A10 conference tourament? Who won the CAA conference tournament? MT West? Everyone knows who is in the Sweet 16.

Not going to argue the topic of this thread because it's stupid. Both had/having great seasons. Jays had an amazing season and are moving up. WSU is having a great year also.

But back to your question, quick, who where the final 16 last year???? If you make the final four than we can talk.

I can name every mid-major team that's made the Sweet 16 since 2006 off the top of my head.

The quantity of people who can name the Sweet 16 from last year compared to who can name the MVC Champion from last year is so massive it's not even worth describing. Maybe the average guy on the street can't name last year's Sweet 16, but the average guy on the street doesn't even know the MVC exists.

The big difference between winning one (Round of 32) and winning 2 (S16) is that:

Winning the first game gets you 1 day of national exposure shared with 31 other teams.

Making it to the S16 gives you nearly an entire week of national exposure shared by 15 other teams.

One and done and you look like an imposter that wrangled an undeserved invite. Winning one makes you look like you belonged. Winning 2 gets you a week of pub, interviews with Jim Rome, SI covers, and other stuff that Round of 32 teams never sniff.

In advertising, the two main components are reach and frequency. Reach = How many people see your message? Frequency = How many times do they see it? There's an enormous difference in public perception between teams that make the NCAA's and teams that make a run in the NCAA's.

WSU is now tied with SIU for NCAA runs in recent history. It's kind of interesting that WSU was picked 5th in the Valley in 2006 and 4th in the Valley this year.

WSU still has a shot at making the F4, but at this stage of the NCAA's, anything can happen. If WSU wins one more game, I suspect Marshall might get some votes for national CoY.

Does McDermott have any chance of getting a single vote for national CoY? I have to think the guy who might get some votes for CoY probably had a better season than the guy with no chance for CoY votes.

i think this question is more appropriate to every single fan base in the nation except for CU and WSU. That is what matters. Every single fan of Liberty may think they are on the cusp of becoming a perennial power in CBB, but if no one else thinks it, what does that matter?

Having said that, everybody else would almost certainly say WSU had the better season. As mentioned above, nobody outside the MVC cares about regular season or tournament titles. I hate admitting it as a CU fan, but thats how the rest of the world sees it.

just as a little evidence- CBS cut away from our championship game in the final minutews with the game still in doubt for a BIG Ten 1st or 2nd round game. How important can it really be?

Says the mid-major fan. Talk to the average Kentucky fan. They don't know who won the MVC or that WSU was in the S16 in 2006. Neither matters next year. Whoever said Final Fours are all that matters is correct.

The average fan, one that only pays attention around tournament time remembers Butler and VCU, maybe George Mason but even that run is forgettable now.

WSU has had the better season but neither season means anything yet.

I think you guys can make a Final Four run but you won't have any long term returns coming your way yet.
