There isn't much enthusiasm for this hire among the fanbase. The media seems to be trying to pump it up, but I couldn't be less excited.

Mark Emmert (DM Register) just tweeted that Giacoletti says he 'wants to make Drake the best it can be, not be Gonzaga'

From the release:

In his first season at Utah, Giacoletti led the Utes -- a team anchored by eventual No. 1 draft pick Andrew Bogut -- to a 29-win season and a Sweet 16. But he was surprisingly fired in 2007, finishing with a 54-40 record in three seasons.

So in the two years after losing Bogut (and presumably other Majerus players), he won a total of 25 games? I hope things go well for him in Des Moines.
