Early notches Final Four performance for the record books

Postby iSASO » April 7th, 2013, 5:32 am

Only 4 players in the history of the National Semifinal game when Louisville was involved have logged a points and rebounding performance equal to Cleanthony Early's last night (24 and 10). Pretty nice company there, Cle.

20+ Pts, 10+ Reb - National Semifinal vs Louisville

2013 Cleanthony Early Wichita State
1983 Akeem Olajuwon* Houston
1972 Bill Walton* UCLA
1959 Jerry West* West Virginia

Early played great, but are you kidding me with that stat?? Only four players, in the national semi-final game, when Louisville was involved.......how many semi-final games has Louisville been involved in? Of course the list is going to be small.

No, that original post in incorrect. It's all time, not just when Louisville is involved.

I saw the tidbit on ESPN, which impressed me, then when I searched for the stat I found the Louisville slant attached to it. I'll happily accept that Early's performance was for all semi-final games. Even more impressive!

No matter. Anytime you're on a list with those guys, you've done something noteworthy.
