Jake White is gone from the Shockers. I knew he wasn't fitting in with the team and I was roasted on Shockernet by some for saying so. I guess the coach shared my assessment of the situation - who knew? We were +2 over the scholarship limit so now we are +1. Who gets cut next from the Final Four team? Perhaps a signed recruit isn't going to show up?

Cold, I'm choosing to believe that Jake saw the writing on the wall and self-selected out of the Shocker situation and into a situation in which he can get more time on the floor.
Best of luck, Jake, I hate to see you go. My son's name is Jake and it was a thrill rooting for him as if it were my Jake out on the floor.
Onward and upward. Can't fault the guy for wanting to improve himself and the Shocker program will move forward. Other teams haven't stopped trying therefore the Shockers can't rest on their laurels.
Isaso,
I'm sorry you lost a player who was important to you and your son, but when the end-of-year coach and player interviews were completed and coach and Jake had their talk, I'm sure it went something like this:
"Jake, you are a great person and represent the university with class. You are more than welcome to continue playing on our team under scholarship, but as I've told every player I have signed since I've been here.. nobody's minutes are guaranteed. Playing time must be earned in practice and the best players in practice will play on game days. Jake, we have a lot of talent coming in next year and the players we still have are only going to get better. I don't expect that you will see more minutes next year than you saw this year. If you find what I am saying unsatisfactory, and would like to transfer to a program where you will see more playing time, I will be happy to write you a fine letter of recommendation. Thank you for all your hard work." *hugs*
The sleeping giant that is WSU has awakened and he is VERY VERY unsatisfied. Even players that contributed on our Final Four team (and Jake had a very impressive tip-in basket against Gonzaga) have no guarantees.
"It's not over. It's just the beginning." -Gregg Marshall after his team was defeated in the Final Four.
http://goshockers.com/SplashPage.dbml?S ... _ID=936441It's a great day to be a Shocker! The first Valley program since.. well.. WSU in the 80's to firmly move into the Elite realm of major basketball programs. I expect another deep run next year. Perhaps even a National Championship. With what this coach did this year losing four starters and suffering a multitude of injuries.. Anybody wanna bet against us?
