20 feet might be a stretch, I'd have to look at it again. If there's a rule that a spike is an automatic T, then it was the right call and I take back what I said. If it's not an automatic T, I don't see the difference between what the Drake player did and someone shooting a 3 pointer after the whistle blows.

Let's see....just in the last 10 minutes....

They wave off a Rice bucket that should have been a 3-point play and call a charge. Clearly a block and the defensive player was in the no-charge zone.

Wiseler fouls out with 5 minutes left on a completely phantom call.

And, Drake draws a charge, up 1 with 6 seconds to go....and they call Hawley for a 'T' for "spiking" the ball. It wasn't a vicious spike that bounced 30 feet in the air. It barely came above his head.

To make that call at that time of the game is completely busshit.

The ball barely went higher than his head....wasn't close to 20 feet.

Kid shouldn't have done it, he was just too excited, they shouldn't have called it though, I could understand if it was in reaction to a call against your team but I've never seen a team penalized for something like that after a call goes your way. It's like getting penalized for celebrating in college football, stupid.

Drake's announcers said that Weber State's Sport Info Director just came over to them and told them he couldn't believe they called that b.s.

P.S. Drake's announcers are pissed. real pissed.

I listened to the Weber State coach and players comments. Players said they had seen it called before and one player said he had a technical called on him when he prematurely ripped his shirt off his body.

Their Coach said it was the right call. He said he couldn't understand why any player on the other team would spike the basketball when the call went their way, but he also knew it was a technical us soon as he saw it in the air.

Weber State coach and players on post-game press conference all said they didn't see the spike, but the coach said he looked up and sall the ball in the air. Couldn't have been too blatant.

Anyway, Rayvonte Rice had his best game in his young Drake career.....21 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot. He also hit what could have been the game winner with 17 seconds left, and made one of the craziest shots I've ever seen with about 2 minutes to go. Wedel had shot an airball with about 5 seconds left on the shot clock....Rice streaked down the baseline, grabbed the ball out of the air, dribble out to just inside the 3-point line and hit a turn around j with his foot on the 3-point line. Nothing but net. He clearly was DU's go-to guy down the stretch.

That's three games influenced by refs that have gone against the MVC.

SIU gets a T and loses to NE
CU gets robbed at Iowa St
Drake gets screwed when the game was theirs.

I heard the coach say he did see on the TV interview. He had no remorse about the T being called. He said his team deserved to win.
