The Thursday night rivalries with SIU will be the stuff of legend.

Get it correct..."Thursday Night of the Valley Tourney sponsored by Drake University"

I don't think we can know who their rival will be until their fans start denying a rivalry exists. ;)

The BU-ISU rivalry is a manufactured one, though.

It's been around since the early 1900s, how is it manufactured?

There are a lot of Bradley alumni in Chicago. Bradley has pushed to have UIC as their Bracketbusters game in order to partially to play in front of the Chicago alumni base and maintain some exposure in that market. Naturally, Bradley has Chicago recruiting ties and will be competing for the same talent as Loyola. In combination with the tradition and history of these schools, this makes them natural rivals.

Because we were a high school then and ISU has only been DI since the 1970's. If you want to consider that as part of a great rivalry, be my guest.

Are you suggesting that schools that aren't division 1 can't have rivalries?

Not at all. I'm simply saying from a historic standpoint, there's nothing of substance there.

Honestly, I've never felt passionate about the rivalry. I know I'm supposed to hate ISU, but I really don't. There's nothing of substance in the BU-ISU rivalry.

In full disclosure, I wasn't old enough to pay attention during the Versace-Donewald days. Perhaps if I had been, I would feel differently about it.

But the teams have also seldom met in meaningful games the conference tournament, with exception of the 1982 and 2001 tournaments.

I don't hate Bradley either, but I do like the rivalry. They do get a good draw when they play each other.
