Who will be the new faces at your school next year?

Postby Wufan » April 28th, 2013, 8:45 pm

At WSU next year we will have the following players that didn't play any Valley games:

Ron Baker; 6-3 215 lb sophomore SG. most folks saw him in the NCAA so I will leave it at that. Likely starter at the 2.

Evan Wessel; 6-5 210 lb sophomore wing. hustle player with no weaknesses started the first 10 games before season ending injury made him a RS. Probable starter at the 3 next year, but will have to battle Cotton.

Kadeem Coleby; 6-9 260 lb senior post. Transferred from a mediocre sunbelt school where he averaged 9 and 6 and lead the league in blocks. After 2 years in JUCO he was rated as a top 50 player. Likely starter at the 5.

Derail Green; 6-7 200 lb RS freshman wing. Has a fantastic perimeter game. Coach Marshall is high on him.

And the recruits:

Darius Carter; 6-7 230 lb junior post. First team JUCO AA will likely be the primary back-up at he 4 and 5. Rated as a top 10 JUCO.

Earl Watson; 6-8 230 lb junior post. Disappointing JUCO career but still rated as a top 50 JUCO.

Shaquille Morris; 6-8 260 lb freshman post. Explosive leaper and uses his size and athleticism well. Oklahoma POY. Reserve post next year.

Ri'an Holland; 6-0 160 lb freshman combo guard. Quick with great range. Lacks a D-1 body. Likely RS.

Denzell Bowles; 6-2 180 lb freshman PG. Highly regarded recruit will attempt to back up Van Vleet as a freshman.

The Shockers are currently one scholarship long. There is some speculation that Watson will not qualify.

Marshall just reloads every year! Wsu recruiting is very impressive. Uni and ind. St are the only two with a real shot at competing next season. Both can compete with wsu's back court but can anyone deal with the size and depth?

Omari Grier is a newcomer for BU who should be a very impactful 2 who can shoot, Jordon Swopshire a freshman 3,couple new Jucos in Auston and Blake who are 3/f types, Picket and Lemon are proven at the 2 and 4 but we may be looking at 4 guards and Picket as the 5 .....we still have one spot open, This fan is hoping for a big but prolly another shooter which is fine too. We will be much better this yr again!

Indiana State has a shot, but what make's you think UNI does? Do you really think Deon Mitchell, Wes Washpun, Matt Bohannon and Max Martino can "compete" with VanVleet, Cotton, Baker and Wessel? I'm not saying UNI can't beat WSU, but over 18 games, I promise you it's not going to be that close.

Martino isn't going to see the floor much more than he did this year.

Jeremy Morgan, 6'6" swing forward from Iowa City, will make a huge impact in Year 1.

You are also forgetting Seth Tuttle...

DrWu incorrectly predicts the demise of UNI every offseason. Its become quite the tradition.

I don't think UNI can compete with WSU next year, but I would never count them out based on coaching ability. They've still got the second best coach in the conference and they are always a threat to click together and become a force.

Indiana State has the talent and experience to give WSU a run for its money. Just depends on whether they can play a whole season this year rather than giving up 2/3rds of the way through.

Ind. St. has the better shot given they have all valley talent in the backcourt, wing, and frontcourt. Odum, Arop, and Gant could all end up as an All-valley first teamer. Throw in they return almost every other piece and add some size they could be ready to challenge. UNI has a good shot because they have the superior coach and the Tuttle/ Mitchell combo is as talented of a duo as any in the league. I'll admit though if it wasn't for Jacobson I wouldn't put UNI near the other two. They would be much closer to MSU than WSU in terms of overall roster talent.
