first thing that comes to mind is I hope the victim is ok. That is absolutely terrible. Also just shows the character of the alleged attacker. One bad apple spoils the bunch. This is a huge black eye for the WSU athletics and university as a whole.
Looks to me like he was saying , i quote, "Also just shows the character of the alleged attacker. One bad apple spoils the bunch" He is saying exactly what your saying i think. That it only shows the character of the alleged attacker , and not the character of the team or university. So I dont know why you are jumping all over him. The one thing he should of said, that he didnt say, is that it only shows the character of the attacker IF he is guilty of this. It's possible she wasn't really raped, but who knows at this point. It is unfortunate, and also unfortunate for WSU because it IS a black eye for the time being, even if it isn't true. And even though it shouldn't be , because this was in individual's mistake IF it happened, and NOT a University or Team mistake. The news article really shouldn't have thrown in "Member of Wichita's Final 4 Team", must of been a Jayhawk fan.
He jumped to the immediate conclusion of guilt. "Alleged attacker" doesn't hold much weight when you put in that it shows his character without any caveat of waiting to see if it's actually true. It's an immediate conclusion that an accusation shows a man's character, ruins the whole bunch, and gives the university a black eye.
As for the black eye comments ... it's a black eye if it's true. It's a sucker punch to the testicles if it's not. There has to be a difference there. If these allegations are not true, then the "alleged attacker" and WSU as a whole are the victims here.
I don't want to excuse anyone ... if it's true, it's disgusting and I hope he's punished to the full extent of the law. However, if it's not true, I hope she's punished for lying to the police. All anyone can do is wait for the legal and criminal process to work itself out.
