Darius Carter

Damn, completely missed that.

I don't think any recruiting service is particularly worthwhile in regards to JUCO recruits, except sites specifically dedicated to them. That's where jucorecruiting.com comes in.

Most of the sites barely scout past the top 200 high school recruits, let alone JUCO guys.

Very true. They probably only showed Watson because he's been committed for so long. Anyway, early (not Early) reports on SN are that Carter may be more ready for D-1 competition than expected. And coming from a coaching staff with plenty of experience blending in jucos, that's high praise.

Peter Jok was Iowa Mr Basketball and Jeremy Morgan was the Iowa Gatorade Player of the year. Both can lay claim to Iowa's "best player." Morgan was the best player on the Iowa City West team that went undefeated for two straight seasons in Iowa's largest class, while Jok's team failed to even make the state tournament.

And Morgan is most certainly UNI's best recruit. If you choose rely on a ridiculous and silly ESPN rating score to tell you otherwise then more power to you, but you will still be wrong.

The only reason Jok got Mr Basketball/#1 player in Iowa is because he blew up as a freshman/sophomore and committed to Iowa. At one point he had every single offer he held pulled from him except Iowa - which is why he took it....coupled with the fact he was really the only "good" player on his HS team so he carried the load. Morgan shared the floor with 5 other D2/D1 players on a team that went 52-0

Morgan is/was much more highly thought of on the AAU scene....there is a reason Morgan got the Gatorade POY, not the award voted on by the local newspapers.

UNI also signed, using rivals ratings, the 2, 3, and 4 rated players in the state of Iowa (Morgan, Friedman, and Karlson respectively).

Looking at the Iowa Elite First Team All State UNI has 3 of the 5 that made it:
Wyatt Lohaus PG - 2014 commit and HS teammate of Jeremy Morgan. He was tops on the Trojans in scoring and assists
Klint Karlson SF - 2013 commit
Jeremy Morgan WG - 2012 commit
Peter Jok - Mr. Basketball Iowa commit
Dallas Ennema - Albany commit

The other UNI commit was the top listed player for the second team elite all state

Does UNI venture out of the region much to recruit?

Not really. The only example would be Deon Mitchell, he's from Pflugerville, TX.

Other than that you can pretty much draw a 5 hour radius around Cedar Falls and that's where our guys are coming from.

Deon is from Pflugerville, TX (Austin, TX).

However, the region UNI typically recruits is a 5-7 hour drive of CF.

My vote for ISU's best recruit goes to Zach Lofton
He is also my sleeper pick for MVC New Comer of the Year

Here is a highlight tape from 2 games at the Pro-Am in Minnesota
All the Minnesota Gophers and the best talent you can assemble in the summer play in this League.

High School Highlights.

Just wanted to add my 2cents, since the offseason has been slow.

Lofton is a good one for sure. I would not be surprised at all to see Ill St end up with the FOY and NOY. I will be surprised if they have anyone on the first team All-Conference team.

Interesting prediction Wufan.

I agree to a certain extent.
It would be surprising for ISU to have a player make the 1st team all conference next season, especially with no seniors on the squad.
But I think if anyone from the team can, Lofton would be a most likely to do it.

Also I hear very good things about incoming JUCO transfer Daishon Knight, I think he will be a sleeper on this ISU recruiting class.

I do think Muller and Ford have done a wonderful job recruiting and bringing in their own players,
but this year may be one with a lot of growing pains for ISU because they only have 2 players with any Division 1 ball experience.
None the less, I'm still an excited Red Bird fan.

I agree that Lofton has the best chance to contribute right away. I would have said Mcintosh but he looked more raw than I was expecting at FIBA.
