I could see realistically the Big East taking 2 of these 3 teams: SLU, Dayton, and Richmond. I think the Valley could very well take either SLU or Dayton (whichever one doesn't get into the Big East) and add Valparaiso to make it even.

Been through a number of ADs recently and hasn't been able to decide if it wants to play in a 3,000-seat on campus arena or in the 12,000-seat downtown MECCA. Very modest fan support in Milwaukee and known mostly as a commuter school, not the type of fan base that would ever populate Arch Madness. Really their recent D-I success was entirely because of hires Bo Ryan (one year) and Bruce Pearl.

They did win the Horizon a couple years ago. They pay Jeter over $400k (competitive for the Valley) and have a larger endowment than any Valley school sans Loyola, Bradley and Wichita. They'll open up a large market to Valley basketball.

Their fan base is limited but I think if Marquette ever falls off they have the potential to get Milwaukee's attention. Probably still wouldn't send many to STL, but not many expansion candidates would. I'd take 'em, but I don't get a vote.

Yes, I do believe there is an IL and IN conspiracy to add more schools east of the Mississippi. Perhaps the MVC needs to split---new Mississippi River Conference (all IL, IN and maybe WI and KY/TN schools), and a new MVC with UNI, Drake, UMKC, MSU, WSU, plus another 3 or 5 to be ID'd (???? NM State, SD a/o ND State, Denver, Oral Roberts, maybe a Texas or and Arkansas mid major ???????). Does reduce travel costs and provides two fairly balanced conferences.

No.

Got a source for that? I couldn't find one.

If true, that's a very unfortunate downturn in attendance.

Oakland and Milwaukee would open up new areas in large cities. Those would be my choices.

uniftw (» June 27th, 2013, 11:44 am). Thanks for your comment. With all those possible Mississippi Valley Conference schools-or they could call it the Illinois River Conference-- UNI will fit in. Where is uni: Northern Ill, Northern In, Northen Idaho?

MVC IN KC AND UMKC IN THE MVC---the best solution--right size, right location, right time .

But, with its law school, engineering school, art and music conservatories, and close downtown location near the Country Club Plaza, UMKC may be a little to refined and upscale for the MVC Cow and AG schools

dumb...get out of here! You may think MVC IN KC AND UMKC IN THE MVC---the best solution--right size, right location, right time but the point you are missing are your athletics are terrible and nobody in KC watches them.

Keep it classy, "KC MVC FAN". You're school is obviously too good for our conference, so no need for you to continue begging for admission.
