Wow! the buyout clause is that he has to pay Kent St. the amount of salary left on his cxontract. He had 4 years at $300,000 a year, so he owes Kent St. $1.2 mill!

that's an bsolutely unbelievable buyout. I can't believe anyone would ever sign a contract like that. That's pretty much - "the only way you can ever leave is if we fire you".

A liquidated damages clause is only enforceable if it's a reasonable estimate of the damages suffered by a breach at the time the contract is executed. By that standard, I think Bradley had a case, but even if they won they still would have paid quite a bit.

I'd be interested in what Geno's buyout clause at Bradley looks like. I hope it's something we have to worry about here soon.

The article said it was for a breach in his contract. I wasn't trying to debate whether or not he breached his contract

I think the weirdest thing in this whole story is that Kent State gave Geno permission to interview. He was fine to interview, but not be hired.

They probably wanted some kind of buyout and never got it. Frankly, as a non-BCS fan, I'd like to see more schools hold coaches to the contracts they have.

And players to the schools they originally committed to out of high school. Too much hopping around - players and coaches.
