Shoxs no better than 16-2 and no worse than 14-4 barring a rash of injuries.

Yeah, it's happening because an SIU fan started a WSU baiting thread and the bashing and pot shots began. So if you wanna cast any blame to anyone in this thread and the responses and retaliations in it, then there's no where else to turn except to them.

I don't think OP was baiting. This would be baiting- name the best MVC team of the last 5 years. The one that swept the regular season and tournament titles then made the sweet 16 or the team that won nothing but made the final 4?

Well, at least you can admit that you are a baiter.

It's pretty obvious that a Sweet 16 trumps a Final 4. Not even debatable actually.

What were the final rankings for the two teams?

WSU finished 4th, right? I'm pretty sure UNI finished 13th in 2010. Both seasons were great for different reasons, but it's hard to argue with a final four.

I'd take UNI S16 over WSU F4 in a 7 game series (7 games). I'll also say that the Kansas team that UNI beat was better than any team WSU beat to get to ATL. A Shocker fan might come back and say, "Gonzaga was a 1 seed!" Absolutely correct but everyone remembers this past season for the parody. There were no 'great' teams in college basketball this year. The Kansas team UNI beat was considered the best team in college basketball. There wasn't a game that Wichita State won that I was absolutely floored by. The performance I was most impressed by was how close they played Louisville.

With all that said, making the Final 4 is a totally different realm.
I'll bet good money it doesn't happen again anytime soon.
I hope Shocker Nation enjoyed it for all it was worth.

Let's see - Parody is a mimicing of a person (making fun of them) like they do on Saturday Night Live. Parity is to be equal of value. I think that you meant parity so let's look at it. I think that UNI's season in 2010 was fantastic so I don't like to compare. But since you want to, I will.

Round 1 - WSU beat Pitt who many thought was better than an 8 seed (many said as high as a 4). The Shockers boatraced them in the first round while UNI beat a good UNLV team by a couple. (Advantage Shockers)

Round 2 - WSU beat the #1 Seed Gonzaga while UNI beat a Top seeded KU team (Advantage UNI)

Round 3 - UNI lost to a 5th seeded Michigan by 7, while the Shockers boatraced (not just beat) a #12 seeded La Salle who easily defeated a #4 seeded Big 12 Champ KSU.(I think Advantage Shockers but not by a lot).

Round 4 - UNI already ousted. Shockers win a fourth game and may have boatraced OSU if not if an injury to Early (who sat for a while), and foul trouble to Carl Hall who had to sit for a while too. (Advantage Shockers)

Round 5 - UNI already ousted. The Shockers take the eventual NCAA National Champion Louisville Cardinals down to the wire and an argument could be made that the National Championship game was actually played in the first game of the Final Four. (Advantage Shockers again)

The Shockers of 2013 was a very deep team (once the players who had injuries were back), much deeper than the 2010 UNI team was. The 2010 UNI team was better than the 2010 Shocker team but UNI received everything they could handle that year. This year's Shocker team won't go 18-0 but don't be a dick.

Wichita State had the best postseason of any valley team in decades no doubt. But their regular season wasn't even as good as their previous year when they won the league. Shoot they lost twice to Evansville, twice to Creighton, and at SIU who was terrible. WSU wasn't one of the best 10 teams of the last 5 years in the Valley until they got hot and beat a bad Pitt team, an overseeded Gonzaga team and a crappy Lasalle team. I give them tons of credit for beating Ohio State and thought they were better than Louisville that night, but I don't think it's fair to overlook to entire body of work which would say they were a good not great team.

Pitt wasn't considered a bad team by anyone (least by you) until the Shockers boat raced them. You continually forget that the Shockers had to overcome numerous injuries during the year. If they had those three players they lost to injury the entire season, they may have won the MVC too. They certainly wouldn't have lost 5 games.

Your undertone has changed lately. Real Redbird finally starting to come out?

Who said Final Fours were going to be a regular occurrence? Anybody? Indiana's been to 1 Final Four in the last 20 years. WSU has as many Final Fours as the rest of the league COMBINED.

Maybe Illinois State will make another Valley Tournament Final Four.

WSU didn't lose to Creighton twice in the regular season.

UNI lost to a TERRIBLE Evansville team in their awesome Sweet 16 year. I guess they were pretty average too.

You're starting to resemble a crying baby here. Ken Pomeroy vastly disagrees with your entire post.

Isn't the NCAA Tournament what it's all about? Isn't that why everyone watches it? Is a National Championship less important than a regular season championship because a team can just "get hot in 6 games"? I thought a National Championship was the ultimate goal. Is the sports world going to remember Northern Iowa's 2010 MVC Championship more or WSU's 2013 Final Four more?

This is all getting downright sad. Let SourGrapesFest resume..
