I read the article in the link again and it said nothing about him not being eligible to play against Missouri State.

But seriously though, are we already conceding the 2015 conference title to Wichita State? I'm not. There are some good young teams in this conference and I think we are selling them short by believing that WSU is on a different level than everybody else. 2014 I get. I actually like building them up because A. they are good and B. if something happens and they finish less than 17-1/16-2 then it's gonna get pretty funny around here. But we shouldn't concede 2015.

What? Lol, this has nothing to do with WSU's title chances and everything to do with the utter silliness of the ruling itself. Just plain making up rules and consequences as they go along. This is indefensible. The league should be embarassed and ashamed.

Just try and say it out loud without laughing. They are making him sit only when he plays one particular team. LOL, its asinine.

Let's say WSU goes 16-2, and gets swept by Indiana State. Meanwhile the Sycamores go into their Feb 26 game in Normal with two losses, and Teddy Hawkins goes off to help the Redbirds upset Indiana State and they finish a game behind the Shockers.

We essentially do not have a fair round robin this* season.

*(edit: should say next season)

***Next season (14/15 season is the one in question- he will not play or practice at all this year)- but I agree with your premise.

I guess you are right it is not "fair" but I don't know that will matter. Call your AD's and have them ask for a review of the ruling.

I think it is only 'silliness' IN the context of the league race. I would imagine there is precedence of a release from a binding NLI commitment via a Qualified Release Agreement and approval by the NLI steering committee that stipulates the party cannot play against the original NLI-holding institution. If the two teams were non-conference opponents who just happened to be playing each other, no one would care. I can understand why other Valley teams (not WSU or ILSU) would be upset at this, but if the involved parties agreed to it, I'm not sure there is much that can be done about it.

We've never had a fair round-robin.

What a bunch of whiney babies. He by rule should have been ineligible for both years (in any other league), but he gets a partial waiver, and they are still complaining. No league allows players to transfer within a league after they sign. In fact, most schools wouldn't try to take them away once they've signed. Sounds a little shady but the conference wants so much to have teams that have talent that they'll overlook almost anything.

Congrats to Ill St and Teddy Hawkins.

Players get one, two, three game suspensions for breaking silly rules all the time. In this particular instance Teddy and Ill St broke a rule which impacts WSU, therefore, the suspension is against WSU. It's odd, but reasonable.

I'm sorry that Doug McDermott did not play for UNI. :Violin:
