Good riddance to any school that gives us a P'Allen Stinnett. I don't think CU has even formally apologized for that yet! ;)

Hey, DJA, let me do this from memory, which may be wrong, but...

...Wasn't Altman at CU for 13 years? Wasn't his total W's in the NCAA's 2? Then there's McDermott who managed 1 NCAA W in 3 years with the best team CU has seen in 20 years and a 1st team AA and National PoY candidate on the team?

I find it humorous for a fan of a team that's never made a S16 to try to trash talk a team that has a S16 and a F4 in recent history.

If you want to go back to ancient history, WSU did have a team that was ranked in the top 5 all season, and ranked #1 or #2 most of the season. That team was not allowed to play in the NCAA tourney because THE PREVIOUS COACH WHO HAD NOT RECRUITED ANY OF THE PLAYERS ON THAT TEAM had committed some violations.

One of the reasons WSU has recruiting violations and CU does not is that WSU had success at levels that CU never experienced. No coaches turn in crappy programs for recruiting violations. It was when WSU achieved national prominence that the NCAA investigated, and they found stuff from THE PREVIOUS COACHING STAFF! So they punished the then-current team that was ranked in the top 5.

If CU had ever been ranked that high, they may have had the same problem. CU never had the success that draws attention.

I also see CU pulling the "Academics" card. What was the name of the basketball player who graduated from CU and couldn't read? Exactly how does a guy who can't read graduate from a college with any level of academic integrity?

Your memory is poor and you were wrong.

I have no idea if that is accurate as I can't keep all of the different NCAA violations straight. Assuming that it is true though, there is a simple solution: DON'T CHEAT!

Aargh wrote:One of the reasons WSU has recruiting violations and CU does not is that WSU had success at levels that CU never experienced.

I suppose that is one theory. However, a much more likely theory is that one school repeatedly cheated (that's why WSU was busted so many different times) and one school didn't. If your coaches didn't give cash to recruits, there wouldn't be violations for WSU either. It wasn't your record that caused the cheating, it was the cheating that allowed you to get the recruits necessary to get the record.

Cite me to any single college ranking (US News, Princeton Review, et al) in which WSU is even close to Creighton and then you can complain about the academics card. Until then, your academics are objectively inferior and will absolutely keep you out of any future BE expansion.

Boring for sure. But also annoying as heck. And why are these CU fans still here? I could see having a passing interest in the MVC and this board but I'm starting to think Rox is right and it really is an obsession. And an inferiority complex in regards to WSU and their burgeoning success.

I don't even think it's just in regards to WSU. I think seeing SIU reach a Sweet Sixteen a few times with some solid teams, seeing Bradley reach a Sweet Sixteen with a great team that peaked late in the year, seeing UNI reach a Sweet Sixteen while beating the #1 overall seed, and seeing Missouri State reach a Sweet Sixteen while pulling off some major upsets really crushed Creighton fans. For once, just once, they wanted it to be them.

Fortunately for them, they have a good chance this year thanks to a generous ruling by the NCAA. However, after this year, it's all going to crash when they lose Dougie and Gibbs. And deep inside, they know that.

Cite me to any single college ranking (USA Today, AP, ESPN) in which CU has ever been ranked in the Top 5 in the country in Men's Basketball. The Big East is an Athletic Conference.

Funny thing about the current Big East. For all your blathering, they have exactly ONE member ranked and ZERO members ranked ahead of the highest ranked Valley member. Maybe the grass is greenest because one waters their own damn lawn, not because they live in a perceived nicer neighborhood.

Here's the deal:

Creighton fans put aside their obsession with the Valley and WSU, only returning to gloat when they have reached the Sweet 16.

WSU fans will only invade Big East and Creighton messages boards with their "obsession" when they win the Valley Tournament.

I think this is fair. And will rid us of Creighton fans for eternity, which at this point looks like what everyone wants. When you have fans of other Valley schools actually agreeing with and defending WSU fans, you might want to consider how annoying you must be.

Why would we invade their boards because we won the Valley tournament? The only reason it would be a significant victory for WSU is because we haven't won it. It would be nice to win the Valley tournament, but winning the regular season and doing well in the NCAA are more important accomplishments.
