Hmm, former Valley members Louisville at #3, Kansas at #6, Oklahoma State at #12 and Memphis at #13. NO other FORMER Conference members made the top 25.

Of the Old Big East Conference, Louisville, Syracuse, Marquette and Connecticut made the top 25 but only 1 (Marquette #17) is still in the Big East. The same number as in the Valley and one slot lower than Wichita State. Major Conference for sure.....

Well deserved praise for a Shocker program on the rise. As stated prior I hope at least a couple of other Valley teams (ISUb, UNI, MSU, or Bradley) can step it up and make this a memorable conference season.

This sort of starting ranking for a Valley team is a big deal. It puts the poll mechanics in their favor. Which makes is much more possible for a team like InSU to get ranked without knocking WSU out of the rankings.

sorry but that is a dumb comparison.

Agreed, a much better comparison of CU and WSU's ceilings is total number of Final Fours.

Some interesting rankings:

#3 - Louisville
#7 - Syracuse
#19 - Connecticut
#22 - Notre Dame

It's huge for a league to get 4 teams in the pre-season top 25. That's an indication of a strong conference, but don't I remember something about those teams not being in the same conference any more?

Then there's this little stretch of teams in the teens

13 - Memphis
14 - Gonzaga
15 - VCU
16 - Wichita State
17 - Marquette
20 - New Mexico

Which team doesn't fit in that list? Answer: Marquette is the only one that played in a major conference last year. Interesting that all the teams from the "non-power" conferences ended up that close in the poll.

Now that's what I call respect for a "major" conference. But it's ok. All of their games are on that powerhouse FS1 channel.
