Nah, WSU wouldn't be obsessed with CU and their endeavors. .

I'm not the one going on to Big East message boards and acting like they would care about what WSU is doing. By the way, I commented on what a UNI fan stated. Why only the call out to WSU fans? Maybe some insecurity yourself?

And what does it matter? There are CU fans flying over here talking about CU as much as possible. I'm just going with the flow..

But as always, thanks for your input.

I don't care if you quoted Garfield, you're still the one talking about CU as much as they are. Like I said, there is no way that WSU would be obsessed with CU.

No one is forcing you to respond to them. As someone mentioned, a troll can only troll if there is someone to feed the troll. Just ignore them big guy.

And now you're in a thread posting about me and CU all wrapped into one.

Practice what you preach, big guy.

MSUDUO - Why do stick yourself into his business? If you care so much about some Creighton Flamers, go and follow them on their own board or on their league's board.

Let's hope that if WSU drops a game or two in the OOC that it doesn't result in them dropping out of the rankings for good. We could all use them in the top 25 and on the scroll on ESPN every night.

I'm happy to see a Valley team in the preseason Top 25 two years in a row. I seem to recall reading something about how prior to last year, the Valley hadn't placed a team in the preseason Top 25 since the 1980s.

The Big East/Creighton bashing, however, is pretty meritless. Yes, the Big East has only one team in the Top 25, and a strong OOC performance by Big East schools will be required to forge a "power conference" reputation in the new alignment's inaugural year. Fortunately, there are several Big East teams on deck just outside the Top 25 (Creighton, Georgetown, Villanova). No other Valley teams besides WSU are receiving any votes. This comparison is just as silly as when I pointed out to some Mizzou fans last year that at one time the Valley had just as many teams in the Top 25 (2) as the SEC and Big 12 did. Obviously, that was not an indication of the overall strength of the conferences.

Everybody on this board has a dog in the Big East hunt. What the non-football schools did in kicking out the football schools was, for the first time since realignment kicked off, taking a stand for college hoops and against football. If the Big East does get completely disrespected by the national media, that does not bode well for any other non-football conference. However, if the Big East can maintain its "power conference" media narrative, there may be hope for college hoops after all.

Sorry, I could care less about the Big East and probably most here feel the same way. The real Big East was carried by Louisville, Syracuse, UConn, Pittsburgh, ND. This is a former shell of itself. It's just not gonna be a strong conference simply by that fact and certainly will never achieve "major" status because of it. The preseason Top 25 is a perfect indicator, of many, for this.

It has little to no bearing on what the rest of us do.

I really can't think of any tangible benefit the new Big East will bring to current MVC schools unless a Big East/MVC Challenge is in the future. Telling the football schools to take a hike is kind of like telling your rich father-in-law you don't want his money because you'd rather live in a van down by the river. Good for you if you're happy about it, but what's that have to do with us?

This is kind of true. It can be exaggerated though. Regardless of the success of the Big East, the MVC needs to improve its product to something that is close to the Big East's product in order to see the type of money that the Big East has. And I seriously doubt that ever happens. It would be a big ask to get close to the BEast's level. And if the MVC is a tier down, I don't see it getting that type of money, regardless of the money the Big East gets.

The Big East won't lead to other non-football conferences getting money. It'll lead to one particular non-football conference getting money.

And besides, the Big East is a major conference. You all can choose to be ignorant of it if you want, but it's starting out as major and needs to fall quite a bit to be in the A-10/WCC/MVC tier. Deal with it.

How exactly is it major? Because it's still called the "Big East"? Because it got a tv contract made through a fringe network that nobody watches and isn't even on anybody's radar? Because they're private institutions?

Georgetown and Marquette are major programs that carry a lot of weight, but that's about it. Marquette is the only one recently that really has contributed anything meaningful in the NCAA's. Butler is there, but they're falling fast I think.

They are a decent league but not a major one. They've lost too much and didn't acquire nearly enough to compensate the losses.

Sorry.

The Big East is major because it sponsors unprofitable sports like lacrosse ... and men's swimming and diving ... and all these other things that most schools can't afford because they don't have a hundred-million dollar TV deal with a fringe network that no one thinks about.

I guess I really don't care what he does. Seems to be the norm around here now. Just found it comical that he suggests that CU is obsessed with WSU all the while he's responding left and right them.

Back to the topic at hand, we can't say whether the Big East is major or not this year. They certainly have teams/schools with firepower. Georgetown and Villanova have titles. We know about Butler, Xavier, and Marquette and their runs of recent success. Only CU and Marquette don't have a Final Four among the Big East teams.

Could they very well fall behind without the football money coming in? Sure. But only time will tell.

I expect Georgetown, Villanova, Butler, Xavier, CU, and Marquette to continue their success and separate themselves from the rest
