And you have seen all of these guys play since you made that statement?

Kip hasn't been on this site in a few years. He loves to post when it's sunny out, or if at least looks that way.

I know next to nothing about the guys listed from a couple other teams, but they do sound solid.

However, I think Zach Lofton is tough to beat for a couple reasons....
1 - he will be on the floor A LOT
2 - the offense will go thru him A LOT
3 - he has crazy range and can get to the hoop
4 - he isn't selfish and doesn't mind mixing it up for boards

I believe he's a lock for 15ppg, 2.5 asst, 4.5 boards, and 1.5 steals. A stat line like that could be tough to beat. Really, the biggest factor for him vs some of the others is that with no substantial returning players, he'll be the go to guy. It sounds like there is a really good crop coming into the valley from everywhere this year but they will still take a backseat to the vets on their team to a certain extent.

I think Zach's talent is good enough to compete for this award, but add in the other things going in his favor and he'll be really tough to beat out. If someone beats him out, they'll definitely earn the award.

No, I admit that I havent seen everyone on this list play, aside from Washpun who was recruited heavily by MSU under Cuonzo before he took him to Tennessee. I have, however, seen enough of Ronaldo to know that he is the real deal. I'm not saying that he is going to win the award, I'm simply saying that he has enough talent that it should be his to lose if he's able to harness all it when conference games start rolling around.

I've not seen anyone on this list play except the WSU guys. Carter is far and away the highest rated JUCO in the MVC this year. He will not likely start at WSU. Coleby is the highest rated transfer. He will start at WSU. I will be very surprised if there is another post in the league that has the strength and athleticism to compete with either of these players.

Just curious, but a kid ranked in the 80s of top 100 juco players last year has the award to lose, over a player ranked 7th on that same list? Are you comfortable that Ron is that much better, or just that he's going to get more time, therefore more stats?

Last year as a JuCo freshman: 16.6 points, 2.6 assists, and 3.8 rebounds.
I still think he'll be a double-digit scorer immediately.

I cannot answer for Kip but I will respond with they are just rankings. Generally in college basketball guards get up to D1 speed quicker than post players. Furthermore we all know how dominant Early and Baker are going to be so the Juco post may not be needed until mopup duty. I do not think this is Ronito's award to lose but I do think he will have a very good chance to win it. I also think that the 2 D1 (Addo, Coleby) transfers in the post will have a lot to say about this award Coleby will be a traditional post as where Addo is a highly skilled stretch player.

By virtue of minutes available ISUr will have a great shot at the award. I wonder if a possibly poor record and 5 newcomers starting will count against the Redbirds when it comes to voting?

The poor record is my biggest concern for him. I'd be tempted to vote for someone that was a solid contributor for a top half team if ISUr really blows and Zach is still a stat leader. But if he is the leader on a team that stays out of Thursday, then I think it's his hands down.

My gosh, a guy averages 9ppg and 5rbs in a low level D-1 conference, but there's no one in the Valley outside his own teammates who can even compete with him.
