William & Mary at Wichita State

I think the Shox just weren't well prepared to play against William and Mary. That's on the coaches. Also the Princeton style offense has always caused Gregg Marshall teams a lot of headaches (see Air Force last year). With the new rule changes and so many fouls called as players drive to the basket this year it is probably a great offense to run. Hard to defend that effectively this year.

I'm not too worried yet. Still some work to do, but you can say that about everyone this time of year.

It says a lot about this teams potential when the coaches and fans are upset with a 17pt win.

If I remember right, Cleanthony took charge and scored all of his 14 points in the last 5 minutes of the 1st half.

Not sure where he went in the 2nd half, but if he would have continued that output, you would have seen a 25 pt win or more.

I don't think so, but if the Shox keep playing the way they did last night, they might. And that's taking into consideration that Indy State gave up 63 in a half.

Coleby might have gotten 10 points, but it was mostly off of lobs and stuffs. the guys playing post (Coleby, Lufile, and Carter) had a combined 1 rebound between them in the first half. It gets worse. When they were getting subbed out and getting some "learning opportunities" before going to the far end of the bench, it appeard to be for their play in the offensive end of the court.

Marshall said he tried to make modifications to his basic man D for the Princeton offense that W & M runs. He thinks he may have over-complicated things and probably would have been better off just sticking with a basic man D.

Trying to adapt to some adjustments and then getting box out position nd going for boards may have had the post players over-thinking everything. The post play and rebounding will get better, but that's like saying a college high jumper who misses at 5' will get better. There's a lot of room for "better".

For what it's worth the two publications I looked had had them picked 7th and 8th out of 9 teams in a very much weakened Colonial . Disrespect for rest of Valley duly noted.

Realtimerpi has WM projected at 12-16. Finished last year at 12-17 (RPI 270), year before at 5-26 (RPI 298), and year before that 9-22 (RPI 228)....

1 winning season since 2002-2003 (as far back as realtimerpi goes) and average W/L of about 8-22ish and RPI average over 265
