I was just opening the eyes of the previous poster that wanted to quote stats to make The ACES look like a one dimensional team.....again.
If he looked at what has been published, he'd see the entire EARLY SEASON story and not focusing on just DJ Ballentine.
It a sad thing that you're such a Debbie Downer, as well, concerning ACES basketball, all the while using that moniker.
You need to remove the ACE from your name.

I'm not doubting DJ's production just asking what will the aces do if he isn't on the floor. He taxes twice as many shots as anyone also on the team do I don't buy this idea of you look up and see 16 but don't realize how he got it. He is obviously the focal point. My remaining question is why so many minutes is Marty trying to become the next Grinell college? Just doesn't make sense to me why he is averaging nearly 38 minutes a game against obviously inferior competition, it doesn't leave much room for improvement.

If you haven't been to see The ACES play then, you'd never know what I'm talking about.
Suggest you do, then you can see for yourself. But, please in the mean time no need to doubt what's been posted, just because the distain you have for the school, coach, and program.

GO ACES

Pull you panties up, I'll doubt the aces are anything more than a mid pack team until they prove me wrong. This ridiculous idea that DJ is scoring within the offense needs to die and die now. DJ is the offense.

Wins against Mercer and Valpo were good wins but these programs lost a good amount of talent from the previous years where they have been perennial 20 win teams. IUPUI is awful, you guys know that, I know that, IUPUI knows that.

DJ has been very impressive to begin the year but EU won't face a real test until we see how they do against IU, Ohio and Xavier. Ohio will be very interesting in seeing how they match up and deal with the Bobcats compared to UNI. Hopefully the Aces shoot a little better than the Panthers or Ohio doesn't shoot as well. That's a tough team.

Mercer graduated one player from last year's 24-12 team.
They play mainly seniors.
Agree VALPO, lost two top performers from last season.
However are also Senior heavy, except for Freshmen Yeo and Peters, who contributing nicely to their Senior laden team.
Is it just everyone in The MVC hates Evansville that badly, that when they're showing some progress or threat, to the rest of the schools, everyone must try to degrade or diminish their early season success?
Interesting.

The fact that you are failing to look at any objective feedback won't win you many fans.

Considering Evansville's history, why should anyone give them the benefit of the doubt so far? You have to earn respect, not simply given it. And you're going to have to beat people other than Methodist U, IUPUI, Valpo, Mercer to show that.

Probably because you're riled up about beating a couple DII's and a few teams that most years would be middle of the road in the MVC. Evansville doesn't appear to be the play-in team that some were predicting but you should recognize that people are skeptical when your competition hasn't been anything great.

Not sure why you don't focus on the positives:

You have an outstanding scorer in sophomore Ballentine.

You've got what appears to be a very good PG frosh Gibson.

Wing has been tearing it up and Simmons and Mock look like nice young players.

You're 4-0

Might as well quit playing the "everyone hates me" card and enjoy the ride. Maybe the wins will last quite some time, but your babbling posts ware thin quickly.

I feel like I should chime in here. I have watched all of the Aces games this season, and I can tell you that DJ is not the focal point of the offense. The are doing a much better job of moving the ball around this year, as opposed to last year when the ball was force fed to Colt Ryan every time down the floor while the four other guys stood and watched. The difference this year, so far, is that we have five offensive threats on the floor at the same time. Last year we had Taylor who was a great hustler and defensive player, but poor offensive player and Lewis Jones, who even worse on offense, on the floor at the same time. With those two guys out there, other teams would clog the lane where UE wanted to get Ryan the ball, and the offense was easily stopped.

That is not happening so far this year because the overall talent has improved, and everyone is looking to make something happen when they get the ball.

Granted, we have some much tougher games coming up. So we will see what happens, but I don't think we are one-dimensional at all.

After reading the posted comments, in here the past few years, I just assumed everyone already hated Evansville.
And, furthermore, all I have done is sing the praises of DJ, Boo, Wing, and the entire ACES team, in general.
Dare you to find, once where, I posted anything other than a projected record for The ACES this year or complimented the accomplishments, from the prior game.
I've never posted (as an example) anything on here about how The ACES were going to crush SIU, SHOX,TREES, ect...ect...ect...
Never posted that PANZER is over rated, THE DRAKE's team bus is ugly, or BRAVES should be in DII.
But, when comments like that are made about UE, it seems to be OK?
All I did was post a bold prediction and hyped praise of "beware of the aces, you've been warned"...

At the end of the regular season.......I'll either never post on this site again....Or, perhaps some in here, that feel the need to try and comment only to degrade The UE basketball program, into the gutter, year in and year out will apologize.
Deal?

At about the 10-12 game mark the tendencies start to show and the competition is equal and we can start seeing the teams that may rise to the top of the Valley or sink toward the middle of the Valley. The Aces have two tests to pass. First, can the Freshman play well in a sustained manner, game in and game out, against equal competition? Second, can the Aces play good enough defense to beat some teams?

I have 16 students in my seminar. All of them made As and Bs on the first test (easy test). Most of them made As and Bs on the second test (easier test). Early on all 16 looked pretty good. We are now on test 9 and 4 of the 16 are in academic trouble (harder tests). Imagine if after the first 3-4 tests I would have predicted that all 16 were going to be ok academically.

We need to give it some time and play some more games against some tougher competition.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

The original question still hasn't been answered...why is Balentine playing 38mpg against these teams? That's usually not a recipe for full healthy season.

Because they have been fairly close games.
