Town populations compare to attendance. Wichita State is the biggest city in the MVC so I would expect that they would have the largest attendance Evansville is 1/3 the size of Wichita so I believe that Evansville attendance is similar to Wichita considering the draw size.

Solid argument!! Wichita has a huge advantage when I comes to population. The school with no excuse is Drake. In a big town by MVC standards and they draw near the bottom. Impressive attendance for UNI, ISUb, and SIU given the population numbers.

Manhattan, KS - Population 56,059, attendance in 2013 (KSU) - 12,528
Columbia, MO - Population 113,255, attendance in 2013 (MO) - 11,996

BTW,Evansville drew 8,500+ in 1999 and 10,000+ in the mid-90's -- why won't the fans support them now?

I wasn't looking at pass /fail ! UE turns out 30% of the local audience. In the 90's there wasn't as much electronic entertainment as there is today. I wasn't looking for an attack??? I was stating fact .We're talking MVC not any other conferences in this scenario. But attack as you may ,Senior night last year must have been tough on you??!!

And Loyola. While it is a factor, it is far from the main reason for good attendance.

Not at all. The season didn't end with WSU senior night, in fact it was just getting started. Playing in the NCAA tournament clear in to April is an elixir that cures many things.

I have a feeling Evansville sweeping WSU last year is going to be their only talking point/comeback for the next 20 years...or at least until get relegated to the Horizon (or D2), whichever comes first.

Would be interesting to see the mix of population & enrollment.
LuC has a huge population but small enrollment, while SIU and IlSU have small populations with large enrollments. I'm not sure about Evansville---small on all three???

I don't think it would disprove your argument, but town size is irrelevant. Metro area size is what is important. If an arena is in a small town, but ten minutes away from a big city, that ten minute drive isn't hurting attendance.

You would also have to take into account ticket price. WSU sells games out while charging far more than other Valley teams. MoSt seems to also charge more than most teams. Others are giving tickets away for free and can't get past 60%.
