Geno's job is only in danger after next year. Circumstantially, he had one player he was required to hang on to for PR purposes and another couple scholarships were kept for APR purposes.

Geno's first contending team was always going to be the year after Walt graduated, his 4th at BU. He gets a pass on this year because last year's team overachieved. A top 3-4 finish this year with postseason likely earned him an extension, but that's out of the question at this point, obviously.

If next year's team doesn't finish much over .500, my guess is he doesn't see year 5. But that's just a guess and my opinion.

The sign of a good coach is to work with what he's got. I thought Geno did that last year. Now that he has more of his own guys than Les's, I find it hard to give him another pass this year. This was supposed to be the year things turn around. Four years is a long time in college basketball.

The talk of Geno losing his job is silly.

If next year the results are poor then you can talk. Not until then.

He told me year five was the year he would be contending for the title. Let's see what happens.

This year's non-con was an absolute disaster, with 3 unacceptable home losses. There's no question those were absolutely unacceptable, can't happen again, and are what currently have people questioning the direction of things. However, I think there's a good chance this year's team wins more league games than last year's team, in which case the argument can be made that another step forward was taken by the program. It certainly is a 'what have you done for me lately' business, and this team has some major personnel flaws that are largely due to the recruiting misses of this staff. However, the MVC win total (which is most important to me), currently shows 2 in Year 1, 7 in Year 2. If it shows 8 wins or more in Year 3, the arrow is still pointing in the right direction, albeit incrementally.

But make no mistake, this offseason and next season are highly critical for this staff.

He was making the shots that hes been taking heat for shooting. He has made a lot of shots he shouldnt in his run...........also hes missed a bunch he should have made. Thats Walt!

He needed this .....We needed this.....

We are not dead!

Geno is coaching for his job this season and next! But I'm not worried about that.

But the nature of the beast is its all about the next game so come out and let MSU spank us and they are capable of doing just that and good feelings gone ;/ #itsallabouttheB

I'd like to put forward a motion that you and BaByBirD (or whomever it is) be relegated to post in one giant koolaid thread, period. You're both looneytoons. Now Walt is the best guard in the league when he wants to be and BU will always win? Seriously, you've got to stop. These pigeonholed views of singular events just isn't how things are decided.
