If only Iowa could have finished off the upset of Wisconsin last night. It will very difficult for WSU to crack the Top 5 because there are no more statement wins available, just a win streak to pad. Further progress will require help from others outside the MVC.

Maybe some blowouts would help impress the voters, but it's really not Gregg's style, even against BCS opponents.

#6 in the nation. Wow.

I do think WSU may climb higher if the win streak continues even though there will be a dearth of high RPI opponents during the conference season.

It's all about poll mechanics now. I know how they work whey your 30th…you have to win like 6 straight to crack the top 25. If you're 20th, one loss and no more votes. No idea how it works when you're top 10.

Congrats to WSU. It's great to see a Valley team earn such a high ranking.

I would think that when the Big 10 teams ahead of WSU start beating up on each other--beginning with Michigan State and Ohio State playing tomorrow night--that might provide an opportunity for WSU to move up. But I'm just guessing.

Thanks.

It's pretty freaking cool. It's a great time to be a Shocker.

Anybody know when and who was the last Valley team to crack the AP Top 6?

1982 for the Valley. Probably Tulsa?

WSU's last time was 1981.

I'm guessing here and just going by memory...I would say WSU in about 1981?

What's the modern history of WSU being rated higher than Kansas?
