Marty has led the Aces to more d1 postseasons than any other coach in UE history. Ryan led UE to 21 wins on one of toughest mid major schedules. You dont recover overnight after losing an All American all while trying to rebuild a program that had a winning tradition that Merfeld destroyed. We have only had the new state of the art Ford Center for a few years as well as our 5/3 bank practice facility. This is only Martys 7th year. Rome wasnt built in a day.[/quote]

Well, this game was turning ugly early. I can understand why you started drinking early.

You don't turn around a program in just seven years, guys. By year 13 I expect this Evansville team to be challenging for a NIT berth.

7 years in and how many seasons OVER .500 with an All American - something that doesn't really come along in the MVC all that often?

For all of the talk about UNI always being "slow white farm boys with no talent" they've managed a S16 and the longest streak of avoiding the PIG.

Seriously...Marty is 7 years in. He's pretty damn close the ceiling of what he will/can accomplish with the program.

By starting out a conference season 0-3 and forcing out talented upperclassmen?

They could not accept their role, they were not good enough and Marty is building towards the future. Blake is the top Freshman in the MVC and will likely be POY by his senior year. This is only Mock and Balentines second year starting.

How did you get out of the press conference so quickly Coach Simmons?

This post has to be sarcasm right?

Blake Simmons 30 mins 8 pts, 3 rebs, 2 assts per game on 41% shooting

Milton Doyle (Loyola) 32 mins 14 pts, 4 rebs, 3 assts per game on 43% shooting

Jeremy Morgan (UNI) 21 mins 6.5 pts, 2 rebs, 1 assts per game on 41% shooting

Obviously these aren't the only freshmen getting meaningful time and contributions but Blake as the top frosh? That's ridiculous. He's marginally better, statistically, than Jeremy Morgan and that's because he plays for an extra 33% of the game. Did you see Simmons tonight in the first half? Sure he had 9 pts but he handed UNI the ball 4 times! Let's get real buddy.
[Insert snappy comeback]

Amazing how many rebuilding attempts Evansville can have under one coach. So every few years Marty can build them into a CBI team, with rebuilding years in between? Impressive.

Maybe you shouldn't build a "team" around one player at a time?

We WSU and UNI fans just don't get it, I guess.

We have one of the top scorers in the nation. He is only a Soph! Blake has more pressure than any player in the country because he is the son of a legend. I wouldnt be surprised if in two years UE has two AA's in Simmons and Balentine. Our transfer from Villanova was recruited by Louisville and Uconn, wait until he is eligible.
