My point: we have to suffer through Blake's development now so we can benefit from his talent the next 3 years.

I bet every player on the bench is wondering why they aren't getting 38 minutes a game to develop for the future.

B. Simmons is averaging 29.9 minutes per game. http://gopurpleaces.com/documents/2013/11/12/uembbstats.pdf

I guess you needed to exaggerate the extra minutes to help prove your point?

While I agree, 30 minutes a game for someone not ready for D1 is pretty crazy. If he's not ready, you redshirt him, and bring him up slowly. I don't even think that's fair to a kid.

If Evansville is in such a bad position that they have to play a freshman who isn't ready that much, I'd question what has gone so horribly wrong in recruiting to force that situation. It's not like Simmons is inheriting a bad recruiting situation.

My question is, who should be getting Simmons minutes? He is a 6-5, 210 lb G-F that is playing mainly the PF position. Here is Marty's other options at the 4:

Jaylon Moore is a 6-7 F-C. He averages 15 minutes, 4.6 points, 2.2 rebounds. with Simmons minutes he would average 9.1 points and 4.3 rebounds.

Rokas Cesnulevicius is a 6-8 F-C. He averages 3 minutes per game. Maybe he's the missing ingredient?

David Howard is a 6-8 F. He averages 7.2 minutes, 2.8 points, and 1.7 rebounds. With Simmons minutes he would average 11 points and 6.8 rebounds.

Simmons averages 8.8 points and 3.2 rebounds. He is also the only player of this group that is capable of spreading the defense with a 3 and he values the basketball.

To me, it looks like Simmons executes the way Dad wants. When one of the other three execute in the same manner, they will get more minutes. If I'm an Aces fan, my only complaint is that the coach did not bring in any talented PFs this year.

P.S. Evansville looks a lot like WSU under Randy Smithson, except that WSU cut ties after 4 years instead of 7+.

Rokas is reshirting this year...ACL.
Mislav Brzoja (sitting out this year after transferring from Villanova) may add depth at the wing position.

So basically, you have two centers, one freshman PF and one freshman G-F to divide the minutes between? There's just no other big man talent, but I don't think that having little Simmons is the problem.

Simmons numbers are skewed by a couple good stat lines against D3 teams. The two players you named both would have better stats according to your math. You can't compare stats the way you are. A guy playing a couple of three minute stints isn't going to average as many stats per minute as he would if he was playing ten minute stints. It takes a certain amount of time to warm up for players coming off the bench. You also left out Benzon and a former all valley freshman performer that was ran off.

If you have been watching UE games, you would notice that Benzon has been playing most of his minutes at point guard.

Thanks so much for your input and continued support of UE athletics!

Having little Simmons isn't the problem but playing him is.

Unless a freak, hes not going to get quicker or more agile. As said earlier if someone points out lack of minutes the "have not earned or worked for them" gets thrown out there. If this was Lil' Merf i bet 100% of people would be up in arms over getting this much time while sitting with a 6-9 D1 record.
The way people keep defending Marty you would think he made the NCAA last year, that they were currently undefeated, and that this was year 3 or 4.

The lady coach was booted real quick and she did something Simmons has never done at UE player or coach; NCAA.
