Jacobson is in a rebuilding period and has some talent. As long as there is an upward trend on the horizon, I would have no worries. This isn't the Panther's year, but next year might be. I think Jacobson can keep UNI competitive every year, with an NCAA bid 3+ out of ten years. Not all coaches can do that. If the Panthers can tolerate not being in the NCAA every year, then they need to keep him around. If not, then they need to pony up big bucks!

I figured next year would be when UNI would be competitive.

I've been pretty down on the MVC lately, but I think WSU, UNI, and MoSt could give the MVC a strong top three next year.

Panther fans have been saying "next year" for the last few years. Maybe this is just what UNI is going to be as long as Jacobson is there. I don't think a new coach is going to do any better.

Wasn't it a UNI fan who guaranteed that they would finish ahead of WSU more often that not over the next 10 years, around 2008-09? I believe it was also a UNI fan who said Marshall was in over his head in the MVC.

UNI hasn't been to the NCAA tournament since waaaayyyyy back in 2010?

Please tell us other MVC fans what that was like grandpa :)

UNI fans have it good. Appreciate Jacobson.

The problem is there are a lot of "newer" UNI basketball fans that don't remember what being a UNI basketball fan prior to 2003 was like. A large portion of the UNI basketball fan base doesn't know how to lose...

UNI also has 10 straight 18 wins seasons and 5 straight 20 win seasons coming into this year...it's not like the program is falling apart.

Coach Jake = Coach Lowery?

Agreed. It's extremely difficult to build annual NCAA success, and even more difficult to sustain it. Winning 20 games a season EVERY YEAR is quite the feat! I believe that UNI will be back in the hunt for a bid in 2015.

I think last year was a little difficult to swallow as the Panthers were expecting more than their return. Other than that, Jacobson has been a heck of a coach.

As someone who is on PN pretty much daily. I'm pretty sure know one ever said that. Even the crazies on there wouldn't say that.

Agreed and after WSU loses one in the Valley (and it will happen). There will be people on Shockernet ready to jump off a cliff.

I'll jump, too, but it will probably be off a curb.

I'm 63. A curb is too high for me. Maybe off a 2x4.
