Way to go Bears!

Pretty amazing to get the win with such a depleted lineup. Kudos.

Marty needs to realize that mock is pretty good and they should use him every now and then.

This has been baffling for more than a year now.

I used to think Marty was a good X's and O's coach who got a lot out of a little. Now, it seems like he's pigeon-holed himself into the same sets designed for an otherwise talentless roster + Colt, even though he has much more skill in the frontcourt than at any time during his tenure.

Frustrating for Aces fans, I am sure.

No excuses from MSU with two of top players out. Same ol song from UE. Martys 7th year of "turning it around". Didnt even come out to media for post game. That millions alum and donors want to pump in announced recently to "promote UE Basketball" would be best spent on getting a high level assistant or a hungry young gun that has proven himself at a lower level or conference school. Too many think Martys entitled to that job like a lifetime appointment or even Anointment to some.

Several times last night Lusk went with a small lineup. I was expecting UE to go to mock but it never happened.

Yeah. The thing that stimies me is UE's defense. Time after time, UE devises a scheme to stop the opponent's top scorer.
Against Indiana State, Khristian Smith comes off the bench for 27 and Cummings scores 22, both season highs.
Against SIU, Jackson is held to 13, Pendelton to 7, but Balogun rings up 15 when he normally scores 4.
Against Loyola, Thomas scores 19 but he's the only Rambler with more than 10.

Point is: UE clearly changes the defensive scheme every game. It is not clear that UE changes the offense. Ever.

Honestly I think Marty is a solid coach. Lusk even said in the post game that the guys had a hard time guarding them because of the unique offense and screen game they run (motion, often times looking like a Flex variation)...They know how to use screens to their advantage. I will say that the KEY to the game was UE's inability to get rebounds...We aren't that good of a rebounding team and we had our way on the glass. On the other side of the coin though, we normal don't shoot THAT awful. We are a 36% 3-point shooting team and last night we were 4-21 (19%)...Usually you don't win if you take and miss that many 3's...Glad we escaped with the win! Good game Aces!

Where was that crap shooting against the Shox?!

Tough sledding for the Bears on the injury front. They seem to be rising to the occasion instead of making excuses, which is great. Feel bad for the injured guys, hopefully the team can really develop some very reliable depth with the extra playing time.
