Milton Doyle versus Walt Lemon

Postby Wufan » January 26th, 2014, 9:12 am

Looking at the stats, I think Doyle is the better player. Lemon scores 1.4 more points per game and 0.5 more assists, but Doyle turns it over less, averages 1.5 more rebounds, and is a better shooter at every spot on the floor where a player might be defended. Additionally, Doyle is only a freshman and will get better, while Lemon peaked long ago. I notice while watching LUC that Doyle looks poised and ready to attach, while Lemon often appears as if someone just peed in his cheerios.

And while I'm talking about LUC, what is the possibility that Thomas will be able to play the SF position as a senior?

As bizarrely cocky for a fan of an 8-12 team as Bradleyfan1 is on here, it's true that Lemon has really upped his game recently. January Lemon is way better than December Lemon. What February Lemon will look like is anybody's guess.

Lemon's personal turnaround has been stark. He shot only 39.7 percent in the nonconference season, which included a winless December, but has made 46.7 percent of his shots in seven MVC games. His 3-point percentage was .212 in nonconference play, but is .429 in the MVC. He averaged 15.1 points through November and December, but 21.6 since Jan. 1. And his turnovers are down from four per game to three.

Interestingly, Doyle and Lemon actually almost ended up playing alongside each other, but Kansas swooped in with an offer late in the process.

Did he really "upped his game" or just actually play competition more at his level in the lower division of bball.

Well, sure hasn't translated into success for Bradley then.

Doyle has upped his game also. Averaging 17.4 ppg and 4.1 apg in conference games compared to 15.9 ppg and 2.9 apg in non-con.

But I don't believe it's fair to compare a freshman and a senior.

One is a freshman one is a senior this is not a fair comparison. I tell you one thing, though, Milton Doyle is going to be very very good in his time at Loyola.

Not fair to the senior, apparently.
