These things happen in cycles and you are on top for NOW. Interesting fact last time you entered conference play ranked, you finished 17-14(8-10) and finished 6th.

Apparently we're not heading in that direction now are we. Any other interesting factoids you want to share? I'll hang up and listen.

Wichita was ranked ahead of Florida last week.

But Florida obviously showed they're the better team last week. Win @Bama and vs. Tennessee. Those 2 results clearly show Florida is better than Wichita. Those are 2 results a team like Wichita couldn't get.

Good f****** grief, AP poll. Villanova was defensible. This isn't.

Seth Davis has said he won't vote WSU above #5, so that is going to hurt WSU especially when you miss the #3 spot by one point.

I was telling friends two weeks ago that WSU was already against the glass ceiling at #5. Had MSU not lost another player last week, contributing to a loss at home, I firmly believe we'd still be 5th behind Florida. It's only a matter of time before the voters do the same thing for KU. The only thing keeping them behind SDSU is the Aztecs' win in Lawrence.

So Florida showed they are better by winning the same two games Wichita State did earlier in the season, so they bump WSU???????

WSU is being punished by the voters who won't move them past the 9/10 area. With those guys, top five teams losing doesn't mean much to WSU, but probably moves Florida up on their ballots.

We are where we are. I can't be too angry about only being #3/4 in the country. Obviously Florida moving past us this week is ridiculous, but I expected it.

It's no different than the college football polls. A loss early in the year is better than a loss late. A win over a good team late is better than a win over a good team early. (according to those with the votes)

You'd think with all the assets available to people now, that wouldn't be the case, but it is what it is.

Wichita being in the Top 5 is a huge help for recruiting, both for WSU and teams in the Valley.

I hope that is the case! WSUs FF run last year paired with a top 5 ranking (top 20 all year) should be a good selling point to a lot of student athletes. In order for it to have the full effect, WSU needs to stay in or around the top 25 (which they've done for three years now) along with at least one more Valley school (yet to be determined).

It's not going to be that big a help for WSU. There are only two scholarship spots opening up for 2015 (Carter and Cotton.) The Shox need to stay relevant - say top-20 and several NCAA runs - long enough to recruit replacements for next year's GINORMOUS Fr class. Unless there's some red shirts, WSU will have 6 (SIX) Fr next year, including two who are taking red shirt this year.
