Great effort by the guys, Balentine is a top 5 player in this league with 2 more years looking forward to his growth....I still think WSU will lose 2nd game in NCAA tournament.

Anything's possible.

I still think Evansville won't make the NCAA tournament in the next decade. Possibly two.

If I was him, I would transfer from EU to program that has a ceiling higher than CIT.

I still think WSU will lose 2nd game in NCAA tournament.

That is really a stupid thing to say, first you don't know where WSU is seeded. They could easily lose a first round match depending on where they are seeded. Second, you don't know who their 2nd round matchup would be against anyway. Could be very difficult to very easy depending on seeding and again matchups.

The refs were kind of bad about calling ticky tack things. Went both ways. Evansville was chopping and getting handsy a *lot*. Spare me the, oh what did I do, and the oh dear I was touched, I should fall down. One of them, it looked like Lufile, just turned and brushed the guy, who fell down.

Another source of fouls was trying to run moving screens for Ballentine, and got called a few times on the screens. (And got away with a lot of them.) Ballentine had to WORK to get open. A lot of his scoring wasn't while he was open, it was when he had a hand in his face. That's impressive.

Defensively, he wasn't great, but ok. He's probably the best shooter in the valley. Especially with a hand in his face, but that fell off after a while, I suspect the effort expended for shots, tired him out, as he had whomever was guarding him, Cotton, Baker, Wessel, Wiggins, right there, unless they'd been blocked. He didn't shoot many freethrows either, like at UNI.

WSU started off slow, then picked it up. We started pressuring and the pressure messed with Evansville. Lots of turnovers, steals, and such, and most importantly caused the Aces to go cold, when the Shockers were heating up.

That continuation call that Baker got might have even been worse than the continuation Early got in the Final Four.

18-6 fouls in first half.
24-33 free throws WSU
10-18 free throws UE

Phantom calls on Mock, the last one being absolutely unbelievable!

"Continuation" call that gave Baker two points...after he took two steps AFTER whistle blew...then got to shoot a free throw!

I am not saying UE would have won the game, but we would have had a real fair chance if the officiating had been fair. Their starters had very few fouls. UE had to play without Mock most of the game, and had at least two starters foul out.

WSU did not play as well as they normally do, and the Aces played tough, especially the first 10 minutes. Without the calls that the Shockers got they could have possibly lost this game.

All season long I have never complained about officiating, but this game was a farce! I am very proud of my Aces and their effort!

I think the Baker play was terrible, but you can't just look at the raw numbers, either.

You don't get many foul calls when you aren't driving to the basket and just taking jump shots. Evansville took far more jump shots than WSU, and WSU drove to the basket far more.

There was home cooking on a few of the fouls. But WSU's playing style simply takes advantage of driving to the basket to generate FTs, and Evansville's doesn't. Drive to the basket, put the bigs in foul trouble, shoot FTs. Your team should try it.

if they call all the illegal screen the EU runs, it not a 18 point blowout, it is a 30 point blowout.

You can attempt to explain away an unfairly called game by excuses that blame the team that bore the brunt of most of the calls....hey, a homer is a homer.

WSU might have won had this not been such a terribly-called game, but this final score did not prove anything to anyone who actually watched the game.

You just can't change what happened on the floor with those refs....not fair, not accurate, nothing to brag about!
