If Wichita State can survive the UNI and Indiana State road games -- and that's a big if -- the rest of the Valley schedule only features one top half team. Which would be a hobbled Missouri State team at home. Road games against Evansville, Loyola, and Bradley are far from gimmees, but WSU will be heavily favored to go undefeated at that point.

Next week will either end the talk or ramp it way up.

If the Shockers lose, it will be to a lower half team.

That's been my thought ... that the loss would be to a team they took too lightly, like Loyola if Doyle is able to go off at home.

But Indiana State hitting a ton of 3s isn't out of the question, either. I do have more confidence in WSU bringing the A game against them than Loyola or Bradley, though.

I think a Valley lower half/tier team might surprise WSU for a half but I don't see it for an entire game. WSU is just too good this year.

Have to say the further we get into this the more I'm hoping the Shox run the table. That would be a real accomplishment. And I'd love to see the squirming by the selection committee and pollsters over where the Sox belong in the polls and how they get seeded in the big dance.

Of course I'll still hope for a Bears upset at Koch. Not likely but stranger things have happened and we do have the talent (even without Marshall) to pull it off if we are shooting it really well. I certainly don't expect a win though. Keeping it close would be an accomplishment.

Honestly Loyola is much better at home. That one scares me a smidge. They have some quickness that could cause some foul trouble.

If Loyola is WSU's only loss then there's your confirmation that they are a perfect fit for the Valley.
