Next best true frosh is Ruder from Missouri St., with near stats to simmons..So be careful who you bash, no other team can claim a frosh with those stats.

Do you seriously think Simmons is in the same category as Ruder? Have you seen them both play? I have and there is no comparison. I'd be willing to bet Ruder is all Valley before he's done. I just don't see that for Simmons.

Ruder is currently 8 treys from breaking the Bears freshman three point record (set by Ahearn). A fair number of his treys have been with the game on the line too. He also plays smart defense and only rarely commits a turnover. No comparison.

I guess you proved that even really bad players can get some stats given enough minutes. He certainly leads the league in meanimgless points and points given up.

Could you please show me your source on these stats?

How is Evansville one of the youngest teams in the country? Usually that happens when you have a new coach take over and the coach cleans house on the roster. I believe Marty is in his 7th year. Another way this usually happens is you have a lot of one and done guys ie. Kansas and Kentucky..not at Evansville. Does Marty not recruit juco guys? Not trying to pick a fight, but this far into his tenure, he shouldn't have a roster this young.

There could be three reasons for this:

1. Unanticipated player defections.

2. Poor management of recruiting classes.

3. The unwillingness or inability to target JUCOs to balance recruiting classes.

I have never done an analysis, but I bet the Aces recruit JUCOs less than many other MVC programs. I wish we would recruit more of them.

What is the opinion of the Ace's fans who follow this team more than I do? I know WSU tries to equal out their classes so that they don't have such a young team ever.

My opinion:

When a Freshman transfers, replace him with a JUCO with 3 years eligibility.
When you have a Sophomore defects, you recruit a JUCO with two years eligibility.

Easier said than done. Some programs do an excellent job of continuing to track recruiting targets who opt for Prep School and JUCO. Not sure if we track these sort of guys. For example, WSU may offer a high school senior and he may decide to go to Prep School and reopen his recruitment. I would think that the Shockers will continue to follow him. The Sycamores may offer a Small Forward who does not qualify and goes JUCO. The Sycs would probably follow him. The Aces may offer a Power Forward who qualifies, but opts for JUCO. We should track his first year of JUCO and then try to lure him since he has three years left to play basketball. I hope we are doing this.

I like Ruder as the second best freshman in the MVC behind Doyle with Lynch as the #3 frosh. Ruder is probably the second best shooter behind Ballentine. As a shooter, I put him right with or slightly better than Baker.

I would hope they are tracking recruits that go the Juco or Prep school route. Sounds like their job recruiting to me.
