In his SR year, Perez lead the league in scoring, was 3rd in rebounds and was 4th in steals. As a SO, he had 5.5 rebounds per game (12th) and 2 steals per game (5th).

Balentine is a great scorer, but he will not be the all around player that Jason was.

You can't say that with certainty when Balentine is just a sophomore. You are comparing him to Perez's senior year so it's not a valid comparison.

I mentioned Perez being 12th in the conference with 5.5 rebounds per game and 5th in the conference with 2 steals per game...as a sophomore.

I see that now.

Sorry, Perez only impressed me as a senior. I never worried about him "taking over a game" or single-handedly beating a team. I thought he was solid but not a star. But, that has been a long time ago.

I feel the same way about Balentine and Jackson.

Marty always has a guy like DJ and always will. His offense is built around one scorer and every play is designed to get one guy an open look. A few years ago it was Shy Ely, then it was Colt Ryan, and now it's DJ Balentine. All of them are good players, but a dozen other guards in the league can do the same thing given the opportunity.
