This SIU team - now led almost entirely by some very impressive freshmen and sophomores - has done a 180; this is not the team that looked backwards earlier in the year. The future is bright at SIU; the Arena will be rocking on Saturday for Missouri State!

GO DAWGS!

On the other hand, I hate seeing a team play like total ass in the non-conference, rack up a 300+ OOC RPI, and then come into league play and collect W after W. I suppose the blame for that goes on the MVC teams losing to the Salukis and Ramblers, though.

Congrats SIU, very impressive road performance tonight.

No doubt it's frustrating to see how teams can stink so much out of conference and then succeed in conference. Think it's just part of dealing with college kids, right or wrong, think the non-conference season can sometimes wear on a team, especially when things are going bad. The conference season, though, is what most teams really point to, and especially in their cases it's like a second lease on life, chance for a new start to the season. Suspect that both Loyola and SIU weren't as bad as they played out of conference, unfortunately that does no good for anyone else. Also think this was a spot where it hurts that the Bracket Buster is gone, because it would've provided some chances for teams like Loyola, SIU, Bradley, etc. to get a non-conference win in February that at least raises the OOC win percentages. Instead, those games were played in December this year, when those teams were really struggling.

I understand the frustrations people get about that situation but there is a very easy solution. Win your games and you don't have to worry about anyone else lol

If Hinson can keep SIU out of Thursday night, it will be quite a statement about his coaching abilities. That would be a significant turnaround in a short period of time.

Not really. WSU is undefeated and I'm still worried about teams that bomb the entire nonconference RPI and then hurt the conference by suddenly becoming better in conference. Impacts our tournament resume and potentially seeding.

As long as we stay out of thursday I am happy. We know siu isn't gonna make the tournament anytime soon so as long as we stay out of thursday i think that is a success. If that affects other teams well then I'm sorry but thats sports for you.

No doubt.

But it isn't as simple as "just win". Everyone in the conference effects everyone else.

The thing with SIU is that I think they will use this improvement to build for the future. SIU turning their team around in this one season will help the MVC in the coming years. I do not feel the same way about a certain team in conference who has tanked in the non-con and then did well in conference play in previous years. This other team likes to pride themselves on sucking and then upsetting teams in conference. I'm not naming any names.

Given the number of Fr. and So. on this team, these are the results that should have been expected. Terrible in non-con with some conference wins that they shouldn't have. BH seems to be pretty good at coaching his guys up and getting them better during the season. At no time would I have predicted 5 conference wins with 2 on the road at this point.

Highly doubtful that any team prides themselves on sucking at any time in the season.
But, go on with your ridiculous rant.
