how can a win over a mediocre Butler team automatically mean you're gonna jump 4 teams and avoid Thursday?

Even in a down Valley, Evansville is not a Thursday avoider. No way. No how.

Butler is a top 2 team in MVC this year. BTW, where did I say the win over Butler was the cause for this?
I also never said they were a lock to avoid Thursday. I said 7th or 8th with a CHANCE to climb up to 6th.

I don't think Butler is a top 2 team in the Valley, but we'll never know.

I'll concede that Evansville's chances of climbing out of the basement are better today than 3 months ago, but it has as much to do with the poor play and development of other teams (and injuries) as it does with how far the Aces have come, which still isn't that far.

I feel fairly confident over 18 games the Aces aren't better than WSU, MSU, CU and UNI.

They have a chance to compete with ISU (R and B), BU, SIU and Drake but objectively I don't see them better than any of those teams, even with injuries. Kelly and Lathan are going to give them fits. Carmicheal will eat VanTongLie for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Illinois State and SIU are better than most people think and Drake has better talent, by FAR than Evansville.

I still believe anything other than 10th should be viewed as a championship in Evansville.

Redbirds are right on track to win our bid in St. Louis.

Actually we don't have such a great start to the season either. We could easily go 1-5.

Vs. Creighton
@Missouri St.
@ Indiana St. (who keeps getting better)
Vs. WSU
@SIU (we might get our 1st conference win here)
vs. UNI (a tossup)

Indiana State's first 3 MVC games:

12/29 vs. Bradley

1/1 @ Evansville

1/4 vs. Illinois State

We have an easy first 3 games in the Valley.

Well that's why they play the games and don't count on MVCFans board members to decide fate.

I'd love to hear what you think your record will be after these 5 games. Anything other than 0-5 would have to be considered a moral victory, no?

And even if they go 0-5, that doesn't really change what they can accomplish over the entire Valley schedule.

In the last 9 seasons, the Aces have won the following number of conference games each season: 4-8-5-5-5-6-3-8-3. Only the 2008-2009 team was fairly competitive for the season. Yes, Drake happened in 07-08 but is there a developed Josh Young here? And I KNOW there will never be another Adam Emenememnemememmenenmenememeemeker again. The only people that think Evansville is going to do well, are Aces. There is nothing to make one believe that success, even marginal success in the Valley is on the horizon. We've been told that effort and shooting, heart and scheming are going to carry the day for Evansville for years now....well it has, to the tune of about 5 wins a year over the last decade.

Not only have conference pecking order not become more clear during the pre-conference schedule...it has become downright confounded! Anybody can beat anybody. Strap in, this should be a fun couple of months!

Your team is 5-6 with 4 of those losses by double digits....you sure you want to use the word "easy" there?

My purple lense and passion believe you you have those numbers in reverse order but once I lay them aside
my thoughts are 3-2
