We don't like to count chickens and such down here in Do Da. We got a good thing going, but there's 200 minutes of basketball to be played before anyone cuts down nets in St. Louis.

I think it's funny with all the talk of the weakness of the MVC, Creighton is having a better year against the Big East than they ever had against the MVC.

I think that has more to do with the quality of Creighton's team this year than it has to do with the relative strength of the MVC vs. the Big East (new). Lunardi is projecting as many as 5 BE teams in the 2014 NCAA tournament.

Maybe. But Creighton had a pretty damn good team last year as well, were (as far as I can remember) healthy throughout, and still lost five in conference in the regular season. Is Creighton THAT much better this year? They're better, without a doubt. But one year in the Big East and they're possibly going to have a better season than they had in the MVC since the 40s.

I know better than to assume we're going to win in Arch Madness.

And whether we win Arch Madness or not, Creighton not being in the MVC isn't a "win" for anyone. Except Creighton.

It's just not holding us back because our team is incredible this year.

I believe they lost Jones midway through the season to a heart condition. He wasn't all-world, but he was a difference-maker, especially given the relative weakness of their guards last year.

Creighton not being in the MVC is a win for any school that wants to only need one special weekend in St Louis to get an NCAA bid. The more teams that you have that are at the top of the league every year, the harder it will be to win St Louis unless you have a team that can compete for the regular season title.

Adding Loyola makes a lot more sense if you assume that the Valley schools were looking for a school they could beat out for the Arch Madness title than if they were looking for a team to raise the caliber of the league.

Sometimes I wonder if some of the other Valley schools wish that WSU had received an invite to another conference to make competing for the autobid easier.

I would hope that MVC schools are looking for more than an easy mark for the MVC Tournament. It would be better for everyone if we have a high caliber of teams top to bottom.

Creighton being in this league would've given Indiana St two more chances at a signature win.

I kind of want to do a bracket right now just for the novelty of having just 2 SEC teams in it. MY GOD. Georgia is going to finish 3rd in this conference. Georgia's signature win OOC was Wofford.

The SEC is hovering around being the 8th best conference this year.

The 8th conference last year? The MVC.

Update: If Wichita wins out, who can still finish ahead of them on the S-Curve?

Definitely: Florida, Arizona, Syracuse, Kansas, Duke, Wisconsin

Maybe: Michigan St, Michigan, Iowa St, Creighton, Villanova

Probably not, but not impossible: Cincinnati, San Diego St, Virginia, St Louis (yes, even with the H2H loss)

I SWEAR TO GOD, MEDIA, IF YOU HYPE THIS TEAM AND WANT THEM TO BE A 1 SEED IF THEY WIN OUT, I WILL PERSONALLY DRIVE TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOUR HOUSES AND PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE: Louisville, North Carolina

Frankly, I'll be shocked if any of the B1G teams don't all lose again. Syracuse and Arizona, just based on the eye test, don't feel likely. The threats: Florida bulldozing a pathetic SEC, Duke doing Duke things, and Kansas. But that still leaves one spot. I'm kind of rooting for Creighton to win out to see what that 4 loss resume would do against undefeated Wichita. St Louis is still a stealth threat because of their backloaded A-10 schedule - that could absolutely happen.

Combine the 90% chance of winning out plus the 90% chance of Wichita staying above all but 3 of those teams...81 percent chance at the top line for Wichita St now.

I'm not posting my whole S-Curve, but:

The 1 line: Florida (26-2), Arizona (26-2), Wichita St (29-0), Syracuse (26-2)

I have Indiana St 13 spots above the NIT bubble. 8-10 spots on that bubble are traditionally vultured by regular season conference champions. I've got Missouri St 7 spots behind the NIT bubble right now, which equates to 15-17 spots behind in reality.
