Tucker's on 12th, in Soulard. (Great Steaks)
Irish Pub next door called JD McGurks.
Actually any place in Soulard is good place to both hang and eat.
Good neighborhood to knock around in. Lottza pubs with nice patio seating.

Not in the best part of town...but..

Crown Kitchen Candy is great. Really one of the top 2 or 3 corned beef sandwiches I've ever had. The shakes are second to none.

It's like walking into 1920 when you walk into it.

It opens at 1030 M-Sat and 11 on Sunday but if you aren't there about 15 min before they open you'll have a 45 minute wait. The inside is about the size of your home kitchen and a very tight squeeze....oh so worth it though

Obsession noted.

By the way, there is a likeness between Coach Muller and Alfred E. Neuman. Are they possibly the same person?

I don't think 'Recon would fall into the "obsession" category.

If you're looking for good bbq, Bogart's Smokehouse has bbq on par with Pappy's and some delicious sides.
