Lots of worthy players from other teams but with the way the Shox and those 4 have played they are the most deserving. I'm afraid Cotton or Baker get left off. Cotton has the least impressive offensive stats but he's also the BEST defensive player in the league. Which should count for a lot.

It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

I think these things always tend to be straight offensive stats while pretending defense isn't half the game. It's essentially just laziness.

Cotton might very well end up being easily the best defender in the conference three straight years and never make first team.

I completely agree with FVV as player of the year, to me he is the most important player on that team.

I know it's supposed to be an honor for the past season but leaving Jake Odum on the 2nd team seems wrong based on his career and some of the recognition he has earned this league over the past few years. It's not like he's been an underachiever or a disappointment from last season to this one like another former first team player has been.

Not to be mean to the kid, but the legend of Jake far exceeds the actuality.

Not sure what recognition he's earned the league with his 0-3 post season record (0-1 NCAA, 0-1 CIT, 0-1 NIT) and pedestrian 2-2 Arch record since the freshman miracle (Thursday win and UE prayer).

The kid is good, but not crazy good and the results speak for themselves. I think he's no better than 2nd team this year. Of course I'll say this and he'll go off and win 3 straight in St. Louis. There's no doubt the Trees should have been much much better this year. They have very good material. Too good to be 12-6 in this league.

Agreed. And while I can buy some people's "Lifetime Achievement" angle, he already received that last year when he was on 1st Team. I can also buy the "best player on the 2nd-place team" angle, but I'm not sure that's even true this year, and it gets more difficult to buy when said 2nd place team finishes 6 games back. IMO, it should be the 4 Shox and Tuttle on 1st team, and Odum as the first guy on 2nd Team. But, my opinion doesn't matter, and I'm sure Odum will be 1st team, as well as Tuttle and 2-3 Shox.

Exactly this.

Odom has made zero progress as a player since his freshman year....and if not for that miracle 3 day run Odom isn't even thought of for 1st team this year.

I don't like the "Well, give him an award as a career move" in anyway for any sport. The award is for that season not a career.

Looking at his numbers he isn't as good this year as last.

This season he has his lowest effective FG of his career, second lowest true shooting %, lowest FG %, second lowest 3 pt%, 2nd worst rbg, 2nd worst assists, lowest steals per game, fewest blocks (odd stat for a guard I realize)...he does have his best A:TO though.

He's still a very good player but doesn't warrant 1st team this year...honestly if we are going based on "position" and 1 PG per team, 1 SG per team, etc... He'd probably be 3rd or 4th team (likely 3rd).

However, the "lore" that is Jake gOdum is completely over blown at this point in his career.

Agree 100% on Odum. And the fact that he kicked Lemon's @ss in Peoria supports my contention that Walt is Honorable Mention at best.

If this doesn't prove most of these guys just look at stats and not actual play then I guess we'll never learn. Oh well. Aside from the one guy on the 1st team, I have very few complaints.

Washpun should be HM before Knight though, but we're splitting hairs on that one

Ballentine isn't a first teamer...I don't think he's a second teamer...

Whatever I guess.
